Titansgrave: Chapter Two

Posted on 19 June, 2015 By Wil

Here’s the second episode of Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana.

Join Aankia (Hank Green), Kiliel (Alison Haislip), Lemley (Laura Bailey), and S’Lethkk (Yuri Lowenthal) in the second installment of Titansgrave: Ashes of Valkana. When we last saw our heroes, the beer had been saved and celebrations had ensued. The Beer Baron, having made the last stop in his yearly delivery trip, asks the party to escort his caravan to his estate. Aankia, Kiliel, Lemley, and S’Lethkk find themselves surrounded not only by the rarest of beers, but also by a threat so ancient that it hasn’t been seen since the days of the Chaos Wars. How will our heroes handle themselves?

Love how you involve the players. I think I’ve been game mastering as long or longer than you but I have a lot to learn from your style.

There are a number of modern (indie) RPGs that encourage or even insist on players helping create the world and scenes so I’m guessing Wil has been inspired by that approach. It also helps players think about their characters more as personalities rather than just a collection of stats.

Yep. I’m heavily influenced by FATE Core, and Ryan Macklin’s GMing style. Leonard Balsera, also a FATE designer, wrote the first chapter, and he gave me lots of asks for the players, which got all of us in the frame of mind to do that during the entire production.

definitely love it. ive written my own world, and my players like it, but i like your style a lot. im definitely going to use it more as i do other worlds.

I also found it very interesting. I always try to make up a story describing what the dice say but I find Wil’s approach much much better. That way the players can develop their characters and their personal history. I’ll try that next time 🙂

This deserves 10 Gold and a Party!

I shouldn’t be surprised that beer plays such a big role in a world you created. I hope there will be stats in the source books. 🙂

Well i am officially pwned. I did not care for episode 1 and am now eating my hat. This was fantastic on many levels. The elements I was positive would overshadow the play, such as the gfx and music stuff, were all A+ this episode. Special shoutout to whomever wroite that bass line for the alpha fight, and tip of the hat to the editor who didnt overplay it.

Just fantastic, typing this as i eat my shoe.

I quite like how episodic this series is becoming. The way this show is edited is mind blowingly superb.

Aaand… I’ve had “Five Gold and a Par-ty! Five Gold and a Par-ty!” stuck in my head all morning.

Wondermus! I am enjoying this immensely. The players are exuberant and really delve into the experience. And you do a great job making it cohesive, and fun. Kudos

Heh, whoever made the “Save the Beer(leader), Save the World” comment for Episode 1 was prescient, kudos. Is it just me or were there two occasions where Laura got doubles (double 6s in fact) but didn’t get anything good out of them? Did I miss something?

Love Titansgrave. I’m waiting for the announcement that you’ll do it every week for the unforseeable future! I love the group so much and we can tell you’re all have a metric fuck ton of fun!

Loving the show so far Wil. I’ve just recently joined my first RPG campaign (Iron Kingdoms RPG; 3 sessions in) and am enjoying seeing how another group plays. Also helps that you folks are hilarious 😀
