Just in time for me to commit to spending my August working on my own projects and recovering from months and months of endless work, I seem to have come down with some sort of summer cold.
Because of course I did.
Anyway, I’ll complain about it for a day or two, and then I’ll just power through and stay focused on my writing projects, and maybe I’ll finally edit together some videos I’ve been meaning to edit forever.
I’m still making occasional episodes of Not Radio Free Burrito, if you’re into that sort of thing. Maybe I’ll make one where I just cough and sneeze and grumble about it. That’s what the people want, and I know how to give the people what they want.
Speaking of that, here’s the season finale of Titansgrave:

I can’t believe we’re done with this season. It feels like we just started.
Can I hibernate? I want to hibernate for a couple of months.

THIS – Concentrated Oregano Oil gelcaps (by Puritan’s Pride) +2 Advil liqui-gels + a dose of Nyquil. I take all this right before I go to bed when I’m in that terrible state. Now, if this works for me, (a guy on immune system suppression drugs for a kidney transplant), well…I imagine this could definitely help a strapping lad such as yourself. You’ll wake up feeling like at least 900 thousand dollars…but you’ll have to wash your jammies and sheets as you’ll have sweated it all out during the night. I supremely hope you feel better soon.
No, Will, you have a summer cold because you slowed down and your body says “time to get sick”. I haven’t had a vacation without feeling rotten in 10 years.
Hi – I’m new to your blog, podcasts, et al. Perhaps you have allergies?
I really like how you keep mentioning it as “this season” of Titansgrave, implying that you might revisit it.
Would a second season be a campaign with the same players, characters, and/or world? Or would you use an entirely different stage for a potential second season? Speculation!
I have a pretty good idea about where I want to take the next season, but I’m not ready to talk about it in public, yet.
The Titansgrave world is so rich that I would love to see more of the world, either in artwork or short stories or more of the RPG.
I hope you will use the same players, because that’s a cracking team you’ve got there!
Totally in agreement! Bring ’em all back!!
Feel better soon.
I’ll refrain from my usual (rather self-centered) anectodals and just say: feel better, buddy, there’s gaming and writing to be had!
Hey Wil! I’ve been really enjoying Titansgrave and picked up a copy of the books at GenCon, and was just wondering – will you guys be releasing additional materials on the world in the future? I know Green Ronin is (maybe?) working on a monster’s guide for Fantasy AGE, but I wondered if there was more specific Titansgrave stuff in the works besides the eventual (hopefully) season 2 show. A couple of my friends have expressed interest in putting together a Titansgrave campaign, so I’m working on adapting the first adventure for A) potentially a lot more players, and B) an even split of people who have and have not seen the show. There’s lots of cool places on the map and I’m excited to start exploring some of them!
Our plan is to eventually release a full campaign guide, but it’ll take a long time to develop that. Until then, what we put into the Adventure Book should help spur your imagination to build your own campaign and story.
Well, you may hibernate; as to whether you can… We’re placing our bets where you can’t see us.
That’s always the way when you slow down and have a break (take it from a tax accountant who gets sick every April!). Get better soon – can’t wait to see what your next project is. xx
Wheaton, you just made my wife the happiest person on Earth with the announcement of the last episode of The Ashes of Valkana. We have been waiting for this…
Well played sir! I was so excited to hear “next season”. I would be honored if you but allow those of us not as creative to at least give a little money to see this thing we love continue. As a wise man once said, “It’s not about what you love, but how you love it.” Gygax would be proud. Rest well, and dream of future modules.
Okay so first:
Damn, that was amazing! I’m kind of sad that it’s over already but what an ending…
Second:
I tend not to comment much – here or anywhere else – but this seems like a good time to make an exception.
Wil, you do good work, and I wish there were any way that I could thank you enough for it. A while back my girlfriend was away for a weekend and I stumbled across an episode of Tabletop. I thought, “well what the heck, I’ll watch this then go out and grab lunch then find something to do for the afternoon.”
And so I watched it.
And then got lunch.
And then, as it happens, what I did for the rest of the afternoon – and at least part of the following morning – was binge watch every single episode of Tabletop (I think it was about mid-way through season 2). I had no idea that games were something that was missing from my life but there it is. As soon as my girlfriend got home I introduced her to the series as well and we’re both hooked. We had no games – played no games – and now we’ve got tons. It’s something that we love to do together and with friends and without you, probably we would have never done it.
I was always interested in RPGs when I was younger but never had people to play with. I’m from an extremely small town – like population under 200 small – so finding other people to play with just didn’t happen. And even though we got way into games, my girlfriend wasn’t interested in RPGs.
And then you played Dread and it was amazing!
“Wait, so….the game you want to play is like that?”
“Kind of, yeah.”
“When can we play?”
So, not too terribly long ago, at age 35 I wrote and GMed (GMd, GM’d?…whatever) my first scenario (Call of Cthulhu, for the record) and it was awesome! We’re playing 1-on-1 and we had so much fun! I’m working on the second “chapter” now and seriously considering putting together a group. (I live in Montreal now so time is my major limiting factor, rather than lack of people).
When Titansgrave started I was totally onboard and I can honestly say there’s not a single moment where I’ve felt disappointed with how the show has gone. The players were great, you were a great host and I want to extend my congratulations to everybody who worked on the show. Especially Ryan for the incredible writing from last episode. I wasn’t in a position to help with the funding for the last season, but if there’s a next season of Tabletop and/or a next season of Titansgrave and they need money, I have precisely zero hesitations about helping out this time around.
Which I guess is just a really long winded way of saying: Thanks for doing this Wil, keep up the good work. And even if you have to stop, for whatever reason, I’m really glad that you did it for as long as you did.
Thank you so much for Titansgrave! I have really loved the journey 🙂
PS Get Well Soon 🙂
That was an incredible episode and an amazing ending to what is hopefully only the first part of the story.
I like the shorter RFB podcasts. The less structure you have, the more relaxed and funnier you are.
I am recovering from a cold myself (stupid work stress) but want to both hug and throttle you for that episode. I hope my neighbors didn’t hear me yelling at my computer! My voice will pay for it tomorrow, I’m sure, and my job is answering phones. I hope you’re happy. 🙂
On a serious note: wow, that was good, and do what you need to do to feel better fast. I recommend many cuddles with your critters. Nothing makes me feel better more than a snuggly kitty (or pup, if I had a dog). You have both. Lucky you.
Hope the reactions to the last S1 episode is helping you get through this part of the cold. Very satisfying (and aggravating!) end — kudos to everyone involved.
You and your team (including Ryan) worked hard on Titansgrave and it showed. Enormous fun, great editing, excellent GM’ing, and I cannot wait until my kids are old enough to enjoy. Cheers.
Fuckity fuck fuck … no spoilers but that ending!!!! shakes fist
Thank you for an amazing story and feel better!
First, hope you feel better soon, summer colds are indeed rubbish.
Secondly, the Titansgrave was epic and despite it being pretty much one huge fight, it didn’t get boring to watch at all because there were enough cinematic descriptions of what was happening to keep it interesting. I absolutely loved the players’ reactions at the end when they realised what they had done. [There was an assumption here which I realised would be spoilerific for those who haven’t had the chance to watch it yet.]
Also, I totally want a voice modulator when I run my next game…
Huge congratulations for a great campaign, excellent writing, great GMing and the players who brought everything together by how they interacted with the story and helped it make their own.

OOOON!
Cliffhanger ending, now I have to wait for the next season.
Is it ready yet? How about now? Soon? Tomorrow? Day after?
Seriously though, get better, have a break and have fun.
I hope you feel better ..
Feel better! August is a perfect month to hibernate!
Feel better soon! Awesome work on TitansGrave! You and the entire cast were fabulous!!!! Can’t wait for more!
I just said this on twitter, but I have to say it again.
I finally managed to watch the season finale of Titansgrave, and I am compelled to say “Will Wheaton, you magnificent bastard!”
That was a great twist. Now I can’t wait till next season.
Get over your cold quick. Drink plenty of fluids and lay around the house moaning about how sick you are. It’s part of the fun.
I hope it wasn’t Con Plague making a Nat 20 on its Stealth check and finally catching up on you. Feel better soon!
Feel better!
Feel better soon. On the subject of Titans Grave OMG this is the best thing I have seen in years. If someone asked me would you give up Doctor Who and Game of Thrones and all the money would go into making Titans Grave would you do it I would say HELL YA! Can’t wait for a second season. I hope you can get the same group together because I am interested to see this characters evolve.
I had summer pneumonia after I graduated from high school. Man, high school sucked.
WOW. That ending was insanely good and totally unexpected. Over the course of the series I theorized different endings and read other people’s theories and nothing came close to being that good. I really hope you’ll keep the same cast and characters and writers. I can’t wait for the next season! Please do a crowdfund again, I would love to chip in.
I don’t even know what to say about Titansgrave. Hank Green yelling ‘shut up’ at that one moment showed how into his character he was. When Alison Haislip had to take her jacket off because she was having a panic attack, I was right there with her.
Whatever you end up doing for the second season, I’m sure it will be just as enchanting, but I really hope you keep the same actors/characters. I love all of them, and am probably overly attached. But from the players’ reactions, it seems like they would kill you themselves if they didn’t get to be in on the next campaign. For your own safety, and for your audiences pleasure, please include them!
No real spoilers but watch the video before reading.
I’m going to echo the “WHEAAAATOOON” up there. Dude, you can’t do that ending and not announce a second season. If you’re kickstarting it show me the slot where I stuff my money in …
But, honestly, the show was awesome. You made a grown man cry multiple times during it, And everyone seemed to be having so much fun.
Your evil (?) grin over the “credits roll” part was perfect, and the reaction from the players was great too.
Anyway, congratulations on knocking it out of the park and I’m totally lifting some of your ideas if I ever GM a game again.
You have my sincere sympathy and empathy. I, too, have been struck by the dreaded summer cold. It hit me on Wednesday, after five days of my valiant efforts to stave it off. I’m still sick. It sucks. Sending you virtual orange juice.
Thank you for the ride that was Titansgrave: Ashes of Valkana, it was awesome! The only thing that was missing for me, was a post-campaign debriefing episode. I would love to see the players (and you) reveal their favourite moments and thoughts and feelings of the whole experience! If that is no longer possible, then maybe season 2 could include that kind of thing?
Hope you’re feeling better now! As someone who, even as a student, was addicted to nonstopiosity, and got sick the freakin’ second I stopped, I can relate. My unsolicited advice: drink a superfood-laden smoothie every morning, it might prevent this in the future. 🙂
Well done! I very much am looking forward to season 2. The way everyone involved drew themselves into their characters and the story did the same for me and drew me into the world so I cared about them more than a typical show. My words aren’t much but I hope they do a small bit to help you know that you do good work that is appreciated.
I was able to watch episodes 9 and 10 over the weekend, and they were amazing. Your group of friends / players were great, and you could see that they loved their characters as much as we did. They took the events to heart, and it really showed. Well done. You should be very, very proud of TitansGrave, and all the work you and your team put in to make this as great as it is.
Summer colds absolutely suck. Me and my 3yr old have been going in circles with them since middle spring. He gets sick, i’m fine. I start getting it while he gets better. He’s fine for about 2-3 weeks and relapses while I get better. And then vice-versa. It’s been a miserabled messed up summer. I can’t remember any summer where I’ve eaten up so much work PTO.
Just got back from two weeks of tech-free vacation, and could not wait to watch the finale! The call-back to S’Lethkk”s bucket was definitely the highlight for me. Laughed my head off!! Hubby and I are loving TableTop, and we loved Titansgrave! Thank you for giving us awesome things to love, Wil!
I’m hooked! When might season two be in the works?
