The one time in years I deliberately point people to my blog for ONE PURPOSE, I discovered that WordPress hid the thing I wanted them to see. Neat.
I noticed something about the way I read books, yesterday. When I start a book, it's like I'm sitting in an empty space, completely surrounded by the fog of war. Over some number of pages, that fog is pushed back and the world in the book begins to populate the formerly-empty space. Eventually, that space is on the other side of a portal that I step through as effortlessly as I open the cover of the book. I guess I've been doing this my whole life, but I didn't actually notice and note it until yesterday.
Originally written in 2021, The Ghosts of Christmas Past is a tapestry woven from painful and joyful memories that all decided to surround me that December. I've added to it once, in 2023, and I added to it again this year.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, in the 70s and 80s. I remember when this kid -- who nobody thought could even make the final, much less win -- in the All Valley Karate Championship.

Eee, so cute!
I don’t htink that maxocomp will be very useful in fixing or programming things….
Cats do have their own way of keeping us from working instead of paying attention to them!
Such a fine life !
The question is, how did his replica turn out?
Lately I haven’t been able to see your blog photos on my phone! All the sadz :'(
Images from Wil’s blog don’t show up in my RSS reader, and I don’t know why! Fortunately, I can see them when I visit the blog directly.
Same here, except that I can’t see them on the blog either. Perhaps because I’m on my phone. (Feedly; Chrome; Android 5.1; Moto X.)
Same! I can’t see them on feedly on my phone or laptop.
Scroll to bottom of page and click the “Full Site” link. Worked for me.
No further explanation needed.
From the angle you held your camera, it looks as if she is very long, almost like a [slide on sunglasses] CAT-erpillar…
Wow, 3D printing is getting so realistic these days! 😉
Am assuming that the old classic, Felines, nothing more than Felines…is playing as background musak? (and yes, there is some attack of the killer tomatoes in there too!) 😉
When did Eliot join the family? I feel so out of touch.
Warming bed is warm. It is like a sunbeam with no birds…
My girlfriend 3d printed a cat which she cleverly named “Printcess”. She shows up on Instagram, usually up to no good or trying to steal someone’s food. https://instagram.com/p/7OY8HzEdHo/ #printcess
Laughter.
Watch your cat(s) carefully this season! I never took the “halloween is a dangerous time for cats” advice seriously before, but my cat came home with a dangling, broken jaw, three fractured teeth and his fur matted with blood this past Friday. Some neighborhood no-gooder decided to kick/hit-with-a-hammer/smash-with-a-brick my poor cat’s face! Fortunately, an emergency veterinarian surgeon was available to pull his fractured teeth and wire his jaw back together but he’s in an awful lot of pain (despite the administration of super-kitty-painkillers every 8 hours) and I’m down a little over $1500.
Bummer of a story, I know, and not really appropriate as a response to your light-hearted blog post… but I’m in over-protection-mode and had to issue the warning. Keep dem kitties safe. Because humans.
And this is why my cats only go outside if I’m on the other end of a leash.
Ditto this. I would never in a million years allow any of my pets to be outside unconstrained. The same way we have a fence for the dog, and a leash for out-of-the-yard excursions, we use a harnessed leash for our cat as well.
I get a chuckle every time you post a pic because in the RSS feed, it’s always just a huge photo of you!
