This was a good week for me. I got a lot of creative work done, including almost 10,000 words on a short story that keeps getting longer and is more fun to discover and tell than I was expecting. I also ran a whole bunch, with a decent pace, as I train to increase my conditioning and strength for a 10K, and maybe a half-marathon later this year.
Also, I took a picture of a meerkat when Anne and I went to the zoo on Monday, and I liked it enough to share it with you, Internet:
Meerkats are so cute, I always think they should be holding tiny coffee cups and talking about TPS reports.
Anyway, I wish everyone a relaxing and peaceful weekend. Be kind to one another.
Looks like that short story is morphing into a novella, and perhaps a full-length novel before it’s all said and done. Looking forward to eventually reading it should you choose to publish it, Wil.
Hakuna Matata!!
It was a good week, Wil.
Sorry to hear of Barry Jenner’s passing.
Hope you’re having a fine evening.
With little green visors and a couple pairs of eyeglasses resting atop their head?
I’m so glad to hear that your story is going well – can’t wait to read it! Also, thank you for the meerkat. You really have a good eye for photography!
Would you have a problem with me downloading that picture and using it as wallpaper? I’ve been collecting pictures in a folder, and have a program that randomly changes my wallpaper to something in that folder. The meerkat would be lovely.
I may have missed your Ren & Stimpy references, but I got this one! Inordinately proud of myself.
A creative writing professor once told that sometimes a story doesn’t start on page one. You have to write and explore it to find where it truly belongs.
Hooray!!
Thank you for the picture, Mr. Wheaton, YOu made me smile today. 🙂
I like your posts – you make me think about things in a different perspective.
And your writing encourages me to push with my own writing projects.

After you kicked a hornet’s nest with your political comments… But I wish you a happy and peaceful weekend as well. And good for you on your self actualization… I haven’t run anything near a 10k but I’m going to climb Camelback soon to see my ex-gf.
Meerkat > tub.
“Make a Meerkat Great Again.”
And that officially exhausts my larder of meerkat related humor.
Thanks for sharing the uniqueness of Wil, which is 1,000 times more interesting than the Wil who like so many of the rest of us is (rightly and understandably) scared shitless by failed game-show hosts suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect whose primary business model consists of intimidation and slow-pay and selective Mafia subcontracts. Which brings us back to the meerkat, as the collective name for a group of them is a “mob” of meerkats. That meerkat in the photo knows something, and he isn’t telling…
You should probably check out https://www.comparethemeerkat.com.au/ if you haven’t seen it already. It’s a parody site set up as part of an Australian ad campaign for health insurance. There are some videos on the site of the ads they have run. Enjoy Hardwick’s bachelor party!
I’ve read this post for the second time now, and I’m not sure why your last sentence struck me as fitting for my overall mood. This evening I watched Stand By Me, after not having seen it since the 80’s, and I kind of saw that your current personal progression (and I’m not sure why I thought this…), with your writing, and your personal reboot you’ve been sharing with us readers, has been something like that trek SBM took you along, with your three co-stars. Like most other movies I watched as a teenager, the bigger idea was lost to me. I’m at an age where I see more things now; where I realize just how much SBM affected me. I urge you all to re-watch it…there’s something special, like magic, within that film. I had to cringe, seeing those leeches, but those bits and pieces, as funny as they are, just brought to me a greater message…that we should all be kind to one another, because there is a Gordie, a Vern, a Teddy and a Chris in all of us.
We all love Wil Wheaton, otherwise you wouldn’t read his blog.
His political views are sad. Here is perfect evidence of how harmful the Obama policies have been. It’s not my evaluation, it’s simply actual capitalist evaluation of my home value:

This is public knowledge and not something I can get them to NOT display… I would if I could. I won’t bother to search Wil’s properties as I respect his privacy… sadly that doesn’t count for the average person.
Notice that the highest valuation was always in 2009.. hmmmmm.. maybe Obama didn’t get anything correct?
Wil, you have my number if you want to call me to discuss. Until then, send us more meerkat photos, we love them.. put a little coffee cup in their hands if they let you. 🙂
You should consider the Disney Star Wars half marathon. The west coast one is the light side. I did the dark side one down in Orlando this year and loved it. Wrote about it on my blog.
I love meerkats! But I hate TPS reports.
depression and anxiety are killing me lately. meerkat is a nice welcome. thank you.
My week was also pretty damn good, despite jacking up my knee on set Wednesday. I’m okay; have ice, a brace, and a way to elevate/rest it.
Thanks for the meerkat! It helps!
