Star Trek Day: 2021

Star Trek premiered this week, 55 years ago, and tomorrow we will celebrate all things Star Trek, past, present, and future with a live, free, global streaming event that I can not believe I get to co-host.

I’ve read the entire script, and I’m about to leave for rehearsal, so I know most of the OMGAREYOUSERIOUS stuff that will be revealed. I’m not going to spoil anything, but I will tell you that if you love Star Trek the way I love Star Trek, you won’t want to miss it.

I mean … look at this:

I’m co-hosting with my dear friend Mica Burton. We’ll be coming to you, live, from the Skirball Cultural Center, starting at 5:30pm Pacific / 8:30pm Eastern. Star Trek Day will be streamed on Paramount+, YouTube, Facebook, and via Rutherford’s cyborg implant.

    I am counting the minutes to this event! I’m happy that you are co-hosting it Wil!

    Wow, thanks for the heads up! I sent the link to my brother who is a huge fan of ST: Voyager and Kate Mulgrew.

    BELIEVE you were meant to co-host this, not that you can’t believe it. Maybe it’s the ST Universe and the actual universe saying sorry for some of the things you went through while doing the show. You are perfect for this.

      I love this sentiment.

    So glad I did not miss this! I sometimes go a couple of days without logging into e-mail and today I happened to do so just 2 minutes after Wil posted this. I have only had Paramount+ for about 4 months, so I am not attuned to how to “stream live” but I am certainly going to try! I am a Star Trek fan “from before it was ever on” — i.e., my stupid local station choose not to air it its first season, but I devoured every morsel I could find about it and its cast in national magazines and loved the occasional commercials for it that the station was obliged to air. {I don’t remember what they aired in its place — probably Hee Haw.}

    Is it not a coincidence that I’m watching Star Trek now as I read this? Can’t wait…

    Yay! And I love these specials. I still have my VHS recording of the 25th Anniversary Special. Break a leg.

    So I will have fewer excuses to miss this than I expected, because 830 PM EST start time. 🙂

    Looking forward to the reveals. Good luck!

    Alarms are set. TV is ready. So glad I can watch this on StarTrek.com/Day, as well as on the streaming service Paramount+ and on Paramount+’s Twitch channel. Since Paramount+ is one of the few services I subscribe to.

    Hi Wil! Watched your interview with Alex Kurtzman, and I love the whole concept of the shows providing inspiration for what we can be now and in the future. Have been hoping for a long time that he would create a show around the formation of the Federation that picks up from where Star Trek Enterprise left off, and maybe show something of the society prior. A transition OUT of hyper capitalism and authoritarianism. This has never been fully mapped out, and we desperately need a model for a better society now that reflects Gene’s vision, and inspires people to act for the good of all. ‘Star Trek Federation’. Make it so! 😁🖖

    Loved it, Wil. You were so engaging, excited as a fan yourself. Lovely to see so many familiar beloved faces and the “new kids on the block”. I can’t wait for everything that’s coming.
