Back in 2009, I was having a lot of fun with this thing I called Project Crazy Idea. This project was how I gave myself permission to try something silly or unconventional, without feeling like I was doing something stupid.
One of the things I did was an audio performance of my Criminal Minds Production Diary, which I wrote while I worked on an episode of the show called Paradise in 2008. I put it online in my Lulu store, where it happily lived for a few years until Lulu stopped doing multimedia files.
I just realized, today, that I can make it live on my Bandcamp page, so I remastered the recording and uploaded it. It’s basically pay-what-you-want, starting at $2, or you can stream it for the low, low price of free!

This was a really interesting listen, thank you for sharing. I absolutely love seeing ‘how things get made’ – all the little details make the whole creative venture so fascinating.
I rewatched that episode not too long ago. I really like how some of the more outré aspects of the episode (the whole set-up of the “murder motel” and the final fate of your character) were balanced by how…under-the-top?…you played the character’s rage and anti-social behavior. Brad Dourif was like that in the really weird episode he was in–he’s so good at taking roles and dialogue that could be over the top and playing it all super straight and tightly contained. (Ugh, I suck at describing acting stuff. I hope this all makes sense.)
This was a great treat. First I watched your episode. CM had a great pilot with Mandy Patinkin, but lost me when he left. With no interest for this series the best part of this episode was you. Great creepy characterizations. I wanted the good guys to rescue the couple very badly. You made a great bad guy. After I watched I listened. The production diary was fantastic. Really enjoyed hearing about the behind the scenes stuff. Looking forward to more stuff like this from you. Thank you!

Few things will hook me in like a really good behind-the-scenes and this was precisely that. Overall, you have a good narrative style (barring the occasional verbal spaghetti) and the voice you use is easy to listen to.

Yes! This was an excellent episode! I have/had been a fan of yours for ages when I saw you on this episode and it’s always remained as one of my favorites. Although I will admit that I actually have some difficulty watching it because you are such an excellent psychopath and you seriously freak me out. So glad to know there’s a diary of your thoughts! Whee!!
I went back and re-watched this episode. The malevolent look in your eyes, the hateful madness, really shocked me. Well acted.
Wonderful episode. I remember thinking: “Damn, that’s one way to bust a pigeon hole.”
It’s fun to see an actor demonstrate range. We belong to a couple of local theatre companies, and one of the things my wife and I most enjoy is seeing actors in different roles. There’s something inherently compelling about watching people transform. We all characterize the people we know, and seldom consider them playing different roles in society. But on stage, that’s possible – and fascinating.
