50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

Awesome

  • blog

Anne and I are getting ready to leave. Our plane to Vancouver departs in just a few hours, and we’re finishing up the last-minute packing, and cleaning up our house, because it’s so nice to come home from a vacation to a house that’s not a mess.
Our house is usually a mess. I say it’s the hallmark of a family who works a lot…Anne says it’s because I’m lazy…I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.
So the last 2 weeks have been crazy, as we get ready for CruiseTrek. I’ve been working on 2 shows for G4, finishing all my sketch comedy writing class assignments( we have a show the day after I get back from Alaska), and re-writing my sketches for the ACME show. I also enlisted the help of my friend Sean to help me design some cool T-shirts for our sketch comedy group, which we are calling Earnest Borg 9.
Get it? Who’s with me?! Yeah!!
So the point of all this is, I’ve been really busy, just getting ready to go, and I sat down here about 10 minutes ago, just to check the weather in Alaska, and take a quick look at the website, and I thought to myself, “Hey, I think I’ll check out my walk-a-thon sponsorships, and see how I’m doing.”
Holy.
Moses.
You people RULE!! It’s been less than a week, and already we’re at $1,875.00!!
I am so ecstatic, and so proud. I don’t think I’m going to have a problem reaching my goal of $5,000. As a matter of fact, if I hit that goal by the end of July, I’m going to reset my goal and aim even higher.
Thank you, most sincerely, to everyone who has donated to sponsor me.
I will attempt to update from Alaska, so keep watching this space.
Have you checked out my Message Board yet? It’s a fun place to hang out while Uncle Willie’s out of town.
Thought for Today:

“Our doubts are traitors,
And make us lose the good we oft might win
By fearing to attempt.”
-William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure

Set your goal at $50000, and people will reach it with 100 days to go.

  6. Gil says:
    25 June, 2002 at 6:10 am

That was what I was going to say too!! My gosh, in one day, it jumped from $1875 to $5394. Some very generous people out there.

  7. synchronicity says:
    25 June, 2002 at 10:03 am

Following up on Andrew’s comment, it could hit $70k if it continues to climb at this rate, but $50k is probably a better target. Wow, I’m impressed by the generosity out there.

Hey, can someone post the link in here? I’ve been trying to hit it from Wil’s main page, and keep getting “This page cannot be displayed”.
    Thanks in advance!

    Julie,
It just came up for me. If the problem persists, maybe it’s because you’re using a proxy server.
btw, I’d like to donate but I’m from Canada, and there is no selection for the appropriate province, even after selecting Canada as the country. What are other people doing there? Just putting a phony location down and working it out later with Wil?

  13. Helene says:
    25 June, 2002 at 3:14 pm

Wow Wil. What a great thing you’re doing with the walk-a-thon. And so many people already donated. It’s like already on 5000, wow.
    Have a great cruise.
    Bye, Helene

I’m in the UK and just left the supposedly compulsory field State in its blank state. It didn’t give me an error message. Province/Region can be filled in with anything you like.

    Wil-
If you have a spare second in Vancouver – hit a store called Lush – there are quite a few of them in Vancouver – one in the center of things on Robson. Get something cool for Anne – it’s a woman’s paradise in there!
Have a good trip and enjoy the sunlight!

Looks like Caligula needs to stay away from the expresso machine.
Actually, if I could be controversial for a mo,
    1) Its not Soccer. Its football. The whole rest of the world calls it football.
2)At least with football, no-one wears big girlie pads and big dumb helmets.
Go Rugby. Now theres a game….

methinks fluffy just scored a GOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!
On a nicer note, I can’t believe we smashed the head monkey’s goal for the Breast Cancer Walk. Makes me want to donate again just to see if we can hit $10,000. But, I better save the rest of my “spare” cash for Mr. I.R.S.

    Little known facts about sports
    1) The Game of FOOTBALL (sometimes erroneously called soccer), requires a level of skill, fitness and sportsmanship (this is optional for Old Firm teams)
2)The Game of American Football requires the player to be built like a rhino and the ability to look like a prat in all that padding. Intelligence is optional.
    3) Both games are pants.
4)both games have players who are better paid than highly skilled surgeons.
5)Players from either team would last 5 seconds against the New Zealand Rubgy squad.
    PAAAAAAAAAAAAAARP!

It would rock if we could break $10,000 by the time Uncle Willie gets back… talk about a nice surprise! IF you have $.02 to spare, then donate it! (It’d be even cooler if we could break $15,000, but first things first.)

In Vancouver, you might like the Raincity Grill on Denman- they have a great selection on Pacific NW wines and looks out over English Bay. I think it’s relatively close to a Shopper’s Drug Mart, just in case. 😉

Just a scholarly footnote for anyone who is interested:
‘Soccer’ originated in English Public School (=Private School for you Americans) slang.
‘Rugby Football’ became ‘Rugger’, ‘Association Football’ became ‘Soccer’, just as ‘Waste Paper Basket’ became ‘Wagger Pagger Bagger’ and ‘Holy Communion’ became ‘Hugger Commuggers’. Strange but true.

Please come back, I am suffering from Willy Withdrawal Symptoms.
It has got so bad that the kids are even cleaning up the house as I am too depressed.
They even cooked dinner last night, put on a load of washing and tidied their rooms.
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Now that I’ve typed that out loud, it does not seem so bad.
I might have to suffer from WWS even when you come back!!!!!!!!!!!!
