50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

Christmas 2002

  • blog

The scent of balsam fir and spiced cider permeates every corner of our house.
Wrapping paper and ribbons, tags and tape litter the living room floor. Our cats chase bits of ribbon and bows, tearing around the floor like they are kittens again.
Ferris snores heavily by the fire.
We turn out all the lights, and stand together in front of the fireplace.
Candle and firelight play across our faces. The only other light in the house comes from the village atop the piano and the lights on our tree. We share a Christmas kiss, before settling our brains for a long Winter’s nap.
Merry Christmas, everyone. May peace prevail on Earth.

it has been a year of changes
    like the ones before
    but one thing never changes
    i know this for sure
    it’s the spirit of peace
    trying hard to grow
    on rocky ground
    but even so
    it struggles on
    trying to find it’s place
    in the hearts of all
    of the human race
MERRY CHRISTMAS WIL AND FAMILY…AND TO WWDN’RS EVERYWHERE!

Best wishes for a great Christmas, and a happy, healthy new year to everyone.
Remember even though there are parts of our lives that might suck, to live in countries like the US, Canada, Australia, the UK and so on (I now live in Canada, but have lived in all of these places at one point or another) makes us all increadibly lucky.
    Be happy everyone.

p.s. – after my post, I decided to get off my soapbox and go EAT!! Just because my family is 20,000 kms away, doesn’t mean I can’t relish in the true meaning of Christmas. Getting stuffed!! (I mean that literally, not metaphorically). Hmmm, I might even come home, call my folks in OZ and then put on that “LOTR” DVD again….. Who-hooo!
Leave it to Wil to help me re-discover what the holidays mean to me.
Also, we woke up to snow here in Toronto, so it’s finally starting to feel Christmas-y.
