Hey! Check it out! The wife is actually using the computer! I’m pretty proud of myself. I even did a little on-line Christmas shopping. Guess who has on her big girl pants now!
I wanted to say a little something regarding our shitty (can I say that on here?) New Year’s Eve. See, I hadn’t heard any horror stories about the dog. Just that he was nervous around people. And that the dog didn’t like Darin (which is so odd, since Darin is the nicest, most non-threatening guy I know). Me being the animal lover, I just didn’t see that this dog was vicious. Just scared. I took my time hanging around the dog, and he eventually was rolling and rubbing his face on me. He seemed very happy. All the commotion in the house just scared him and I was the first thing he saw.
The first two days, I felt a little nervous when Ferris would lay on her back and roll over toward me, showing her big happy face and a mouth full of teeth. But this doesn’t change how I feel about animals. I even took my son to a shelter on Saturday and we hung out with the pooches. Stitches and all. And yes, all my other stitches (50 total in the face now….8 from jumping off my brother’s bed and hitting the mattress frame between my eyebrows) were from the dog we had when I was little. So the scared feeling I had when I was a kid definitely came back. I can’t imagine how Wil must have felt when I looked over at him with a mouthful of blood. He kept himself together though.
After my swelling went down a bit (I must say, I was kind of enjoying my Kim Basinger-like full pouting lips) I read the comments that were posted after Wil wrote about this. I am so touched by all of the ‘mojo’ and kind words everyone has sent. I was amazed to read all of the stories of dog bite incidences, as well as several stories of shitty (did we find out if I can say that yet?) New Year’s had by others. At least it was the end of a year, so we can all have a fresh new start!
The bite was a nice straight slice so I think it will heal fine with little scarring. My stitches are a lovely shade of blue which I’ve kind of gotten used to now. I won’t miss them when they’re gone though. And hopefully this will be the last time a dog uses my face for a chomping pad.Wil was right, it could have been so much worse.
Thank you so much for your concern. You are all awesome! No wonder Wil likes doing this website.
Take care and have a healthy, happy, injury-free year!
Anne (the wife)

Heya Anne!
I just want to say, sorry to hear about the doggie-nip. That had to be hell. It’s good to see you have such a positive outlook. =)
Hope it heals without scarring… if not, tell everyone you got the scar bungee jumping over a field of jagged glass, and dare them to top it. =D
{{{{{{{{{No scarring Mojo!}}}}}}}}}}
It’s great to hear you’re still such an animal lover! Incidents like that could scar a person for a long time.
Stitches suck! I have them in my mouth right now (wisdom teeth were removed). They’re annoying little SOB’s!
YAY! Glad to see Anne’s feeling better and still loving the doggie woggies!!
*looks around at the other stuff on the site* Um, yeah, I think the word “shitty” is OK here. 🙂
glad to hear you’re doing fine
Hi Anne,
I’ve been bit by a few dogs in my day, but we’re the same ~ there’s nothing any one dog can do that will change my feelings for them. Not even when they rip up the case for your Pearl Jam DVD, or leave multi-coloured bruises and huge scratches on your arm.
Here’s to a spiffy recovery!
Hey Anne!
I’m glad to hear that you aren’t letting what happened on New Year’s Eve hamper your love for animals. It’s no wonder with your positive outlook (even when things like that happen) that Wil loves you. I wish you fast healing and I hope that you don’t have any more experiences like that one you’ve had.
So glad you are healing well- that more than sucks! You are a remarkable person for your continued love and understanding for the critters. (saaaaa-lute!)
I think you can say shitty.
Shitty.
Yup.
Thanks for posting, Anne! Been sending good thoughts your way for the past week…
The only stitches I’ve ever had on my face were years ago, the need being from my wonderful cat… long story short, I startled her after a very loud fire alarm had been going off, and she jumped away from me, and her back paw caught my chin all the way to my lower lip. If people look very carefully, they can probably see the scar, but it’s barely noticeable.
I’m so glad to read that you’re doing OK. Take care of yourself, and you’ll be done with the blue thread fashion statement before you know it!
Anne, glad to hear you’re on the mend. 🙂
Hey Anne! Glad you’re ok. When I was a toddler, I was bitten on the lip by a dog. It’s made me a little scared of dogs ever since, mostly just big ones. I’m glad this incident hasn’t had that effect on you. Hope you and your family have a great new year!
Oh my God, it’s Anne! You are so awesome… through Wil(the husband)’s gushing, I am almost in love with you. And now you are here, gracing us with your presence. Wow, how cool! Next thing you know, you’ll have your own website.
The thought has crossed my mind how lucky Anne is… but he is pretty lucky too, it seems. Much mojo on the healing.
Don’t worry too much about a little scar, I have a feeling you’re a hottie…. (something about a clown sweater picture I saw somewhere).
Hey, Anne —
Glad you’re well… just wondering if it ever bothers you that Wil makes so many comments about other women here… I mean, I’m sure he’s faithful and all, but jeez. He’s a pretty handsome guy (I sat next to him in the SF airport once — didn’t say hello, but should have — so I know he could bag the babes if he wanted to), and you never know if another woman might make a hard and fast play for him. So what I’m saying, really, is this: scar on your lip or no scar, stitches or no stitches, make sure that Wil flirts with YOU more than anyone else! You probably deserve it!
Hoping you’ll take this in the good-natured ribbing sort of way 🙂
“I can’t imagine how Wil must have felt when I looked over at him with a mouthful of blood. He kept himself together though.”
Well of course he did! His mother was a Starship Doctor, after all!
🙂
Hey wait a minute, this is Wil’s site! Someone’s poaching, I think!
Just kidding – I’m glad you let us know about how you are doing. I was about to email Wil and suggest an update when I saw your note. I hope you have a speedy, complete recovery (make sure you get your protein, and plenty of rest, to help mend those tissues), and that the nervousness around dogs subsides completely. Good luck.
Everyone who can drink must drink, per the rules of the WWDN drinking game, since Anne posted (duh!)
Anyways Happy Hangovers
I think
this
is
even
worth
a posting
from Spudnuts.
Dude seriously. You know how guys LOVE having scars? I think getting this baby only brings out the sweet lovin’ from Uncle Willy! No need to fear the ladies going after my man, ‘cuz nothin’ says ‘tough babe’ like scars! Woo hoo!
Hi Anne!
Glad to hear you’re on the mend. (Hey Alexis, I also got my wisdom teeth taken out this weekend!) Stitches sux! I can’t open my mouth more than an inch. Make Wil bring you some ice cream. 🙂
Hey Anne,
I hear you’re from Oregon…what parts?
– Oregonian
Anne:
I’m glad you are doing better-the fact that you were “iced” pretty quick should keep your scar to a minimum!
I think it’s great that you poached on Wil’s site-all’s fair in love and whatever!
I hope the bad memories of what happened fade like the Jets when they meet up with the Raiders!
Happy rest of 2003 to you and the kids and the Wil-meister!
Anne,
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. Your love for all things furry strikes a chord with this kindred spirit.
-Jocleyn
I’m very glad to hear that you’re all right, Anne — been worried about you ever since I read the New Year’s post.
Kai
Hi Anne! I’m really happy you’re feeling better, you seem in such a good mood! I’m sure you’re a very positive and nice person… no wonder Wil loves you… Hey, I was wondering, could you post a few pictures of your face with these stitches? I want to see them 😉 Thanks, see you later!
Hey Anne,
glad to hear you are feeling better and healing up. You are one amazing chickee!
Bless,
Patty 🙂
Hey Anne! Glad to hear you’re doing okay again, that’s excellent news!
Oh, and if Wil can say the “fuck” word on this site, you can definitely say “shit” and all it’s derivatives. 😀
Hey Anne
Yep, scars = tough babe
My pup bit my lip when she was 6 weeeks old. She is now 12 years old and still going strong.
My scar has vanished but it left me with a weird numb spot on the lip which I cannot help biting on when I’m nervous.
Happy healing.
And I’ll say it again..
There is nothing as attractive as a loving husband.
I’ll keep mine….
Hello Anne!
It’s great to hear from you and I’m glad to see that you are recovering from the “ruff” doggie
episode… ( I would have sent flowers, but I don’t know where I would send them to…)
and since you are hear.. the last episode I saw
with the young “Wesley” Wil Wheaton
was the one where it is brought to everyone
attention that “Wesley” had a “birth mark”
was that just part of the story line or can you
confirn / deny the “real life true story”
just kidding….
later 🙂
That post means something momentous.
Or some other word I can’t spell.
When he ‘whose name should not be spoken’ talked about the bite, it was rough reading.
Almost like a memeber of the family was hurt.
No, a member of the family was hurt.
Glad you’re okay.
Anne:
Never underestimate the power that the combination of ELO and the Forbidden Mega-Mojo Dance.
Glad to see that you are doing better.
Anne,
I’m so happy that you are doing better. I give alot of kudos to you. Many people would have a soured view towards dogs after such an attack. You truely a special person.
I might have Wil take a pic of my scar on Friday to show you. LOL Yes I’m one of those girls that is proud of her battle scars. Not to mension the Bionic woman and I have the same scar. lol
Well anyway I’m really happy that you are feeling so much better. 🙂
Sifichick
Check it out! We get to meet Anne. Cool!
So, when are you getting your own website? Glad you’re feeling better.
Like everyone here, I am glad to hear that you are on the mend, with a good prognosis. I am also delighted that you took the time to tell us about it yourself. Its true that many of us have great affection for Wil, through his writing and as an extension of that, for you and the boys. I was horrified to hear about the injury, but had no doubt whatsoever that you would mend fast and that you would be back to your animal loving, nurturing ways in no time. We don’t really know you, but sometimes we feel like we do, and we care about your welfare. I myself always get a warm fuzzy when I see or hear about a couple or family with strong love, like yours, and I feel like there’s one more beautiful thing in the world to cherish.
I know I’m rambling now, blame it on the Nyquil.
Nutshell: Glad you are well, love ya, mean it!
Nice to finally hear from (the wife) herself!
The strongest impression I have gotten from reading this website everyday, is how lucky Wil is to have a woman like you. and Conversely: how lucky you are to have a man who loves you so deeply.
All my favorite articles by Wil are about you and the boys and the joys he derives from those relationships.
I wish you a speedy recovery, and you are right not to worry about scarring, I get the impression that you could come in from a shitstorm wearing burlap and Wil would still greet you with a hug and a kiss….
Mojo works great, doesn’t it?
Glad you’re feeling better. Having been bitten by a dog and a horse, as well as having my toes smashed from the same damn horse, I know it can be a bit scary just being the same animal lover. Good for you! Lucky Ferris. And lucky Wil. 🙂
Continued mojo for good healing coming your way…
Thank you for check-in, Beautiful Anne.
I’m so glad that your wonderful loving spirit is unchanged. Not that I ever thought it would be.
Please poke HM for the Big Girl Pants comment. 😉
A positive outlook is a primary factor in any recovery. It is good to see that you are not letting this mishap quench your loving spirit. It is easy to see why Wil loves you so much.
Blessings and Happiness!!!
Brock
Glad you’re doing better.
Had our first experience with a dog bite three days ago. My 16 year old was babysitting and got chomped in the arm. It left a nasty bruise and bite mark and smarted, and the owners were horrified (they’re friends) but we’re not the suing type. Accidents happen.
And my daughter was very well paid for that night of sitting, lol.
Anne,
Always a pleasure when you grace the monkey pen with your dazzling presence! *grin*
Glad to hear that you are on the mend. As you say no one is going to muck with you now Tough Girl!
Hi from PDX, Anne. Glad to hear you are getting better. It was a real shock hearing Wil tell the horrors of your New Years, so we’re all glad you’re mending.
My wife is a long-time dog trainer and behaviorist and always sees this kind of stuff before it happens, but I just love the dogs blindly and end up looking at a mouth full of bare teeth!
Best wishes to you, Wil and the kids in 2003.
Rob
What? No pic?!
Anne – So glad that you have a positive outlook on the New Year & thanks for sharing! 🙂
Glad to hear you’re recovering well.
Now you know what monkey mojo can do. 🙂
Hark! Lady Wheaton speaks! 😉
Wil! You lucky monkey you! Does Anne have a sister?
No, just kidding. 🙂
Seriously, Anne I am happy to see that you are keeping a positve outlook and that you aren’t in agonizing pain anymore. Personally, I’m a wimp when it comes to pain and the mere thought of that which you must have endured makes me cringe! Without a doubt, I would not have been able to deal with it as well as you have!
Dear Anne (and Wil),
Thanks for the update on you! My hubby and I hope you’re both healing well from the incident.
Take care!
Tamm and Craig,
Southeast Pennsylvania
Yup yup… Wil should be the only one chompin on your face. 🙂
Glad you’re gettin better.
Clay
You fill up my senses, like a night in the forest…
Yes, you can say “sh!tty” here. 🙂
Healing mojo a-plenty!
Great to know that you are doing better!!! Are you able to kiss Wil?? Your a cool chicky; I wish that there were more animal lovers like you around eh. My hubby and I like to believe that we’re just as good understanders of animals too.
Take care of yourself and family!
Anne: so glad to hear you’re ok. My little bitches (can we say that here?) send sloppy doggie kisses. 😉
Cara (and Gwen and Luna)
