50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

weekend.

  • blog

Spent the weekend playing front yard touch football and whiffle ball with the kids. Tried very hard to care about the Superbowl, but I just couldn’t do it.
Played so much Vice City my thumbs hurt, and I dreamed that I was Tommy Vercetti last night. Very lucid, very strange.
Did lots of work in the garden — it’s been in the 80s here for over a week, so we decided to take advantage of the warm while we had the chance.
Wasted almost 18 hours trying to do several computer things. None of them work. Stupid computers.
Haven’t heard anything about the auditions.

    The Super Bowl:
    I don’t get that channel.
    Ha ha!

In the 80s?!?! Wil, I hate you…it’s been subfreezin here for a lot of the last week. Normally, it’s not lower than 40 or so. Argh!
Hey, seriously…hope you get back a positive on the auditions. I’d love to see it.

Come now. It’s not in the 80s all over California, just near Wil.
I know because I’m visiting Santa Cruz, CA (from NYC, thank GOD I’m not there!), and it’s been downright cool a lot of the time. I shoulda brought a sweater.
And still, the folks at home want me to die.
    No SuperBowl here, either. *yawn*
Santa Cruz is an awfully cute little town, despite its being a mere 6 or so hours away from the haunts of our hero Wil. Yay Santa Cruz.

Wow Wil, I didn’t realise you were such a hypocrite. I voice an opinion and you start swearing and acting like a freak.
I think I will take myself elsewhere. I used to love visiting here because positive and negative views could be expressed but now I realise you just want some kind of Utopical site where everyone is happy and praises you. You used to be an actor i looked up to. Now you just make me sad.
Like all things that were dreamt of in childhood, you ended up being a disapointment to me too.
Have a nice life and I hope you enjoy your site now that my worthless posts are gone.

    The 80’s?
Oh! The temperature not the decade.
It all becomes clear to me now.
    Stupid Fahrenheit.
Go Gardening! The new….something that was new & shiny last week.

    Wil,
Glad you had a good weekend. I have Vice City as well but havn’t played it yet. I am still trying to get through Hitman 2 on ps2. Then it is time for Vice City. I have however played gta and it doesnt get my funner than that. Keep up the good gaming and best to you and your family.

I ignored the StuporBowl as well. It may have been even warmer here in San Diego. Went for a swim in the ocean, took the kids to a movie.
    Wil
Best of luck on the call back.
I hope to see you when you do another show in LA or further south.
Are you going to do Comicon this year?
    Mark

What!?! Oh no! Alas, Fallulah realized that Wil runs this site and can do whatever he wants to with it. Strange that someone who preaches about people not being able to handle a little cold weather can’t handle a little reality on the internet. Speaking of hypocrites… “F” was such a wonderful poster, I will him/her/it. I used to look up to him/her/it, but now he/she/it just makes me sad…
Oops, here I go with the flaming. Sorry.
For the epitome of American bitching about the weather et al. may I recommend Lewis Black’s THE WHITE ALBUM?

Willllllll I sense tiredness but your weekend sounds fun with the kids and gardening (gardening? ok your from California..I’ll give that one to you). It was like -20 here in Michigan NOT 80 degrees and my furnace went out at 10 p.m. and the 24 hour repair service (which means you can get our voice mail 24 hours a day but don’t expect us to come fix your furnace until 8 a.m. the next day or until we get around to it) didnt get it fixed until 8 am the following day and being the OCD/Neurotic (eww spelling) person I am I was worried the water in the fish tank would freeze and I would have fishcicles the next morning so I slept on the couch with the cats and a space heater I swore would catch the house on fire PLUS the cat was high on catnip all weekend (I sort of accidently overdosed her) and she kept knocking the phone receiver into her food dish making little morsels of Purina cat food fly everywhere.
Sigh..I want to play wiffle balllllll. Ok I’ll shut up now.

Ah, don’t worry, it’ll all work out. A few miles over on the coast, it’s been in the 70s. But the wind still sucks. By the way, you were very entertaining on the J. Keith van Straaten show. Jesus shitstorm, indeed.

  13. Jessa says:
    27 January, 2003 at 3:09 pm

The 80’s huh? I’m insanely jealous. I’m in Boston right now and it’s 7, that’s right 7 fricken degrees! The highest the temperature been the past week or so is 25.

  14. Timmy! says:
    27 January, 2003 at 3:10 pm

Friend: Tim, did you see the game?
    Me: Nope.
Friend: Man, you missed a good one!
Me: Man, I wish I could bring myself to care!
Watched a house a couple of streets from us burn to the ground on Sunday. The back porch was engulfed, and when the firefighters put it out 15 minutes later, there was nothing left.
Kids, WATCH your barbecues, and if you have a turkey fryer, THROW IT AWAY.

    Hi Wil!
Haven’t been here in a long time, but it’s great to see the site is just the way I left it. ;D
Great J. Keith show on Thursday, Wil. I brought a friend and we both laughed the entire time. It was even funnier than the show I attended last year. Maybe next time I’ll get the cajones to talk to you afterwards!
Last, but not least – the Raiders lost! WooHoo!

I hope that you aren’t mad at me for talking to that troll Wil. Sorry if I went too far. It just pinched a nerve. I am truely glad that you had nice weather there and were able to enjoy having time with your step sons.

  21. Angelwwolf says:

80s! Oh you lucky person! In NJ, it’s been in the teens and twentys with a serious wind chill factor. Right now, at 7:47 PM EST, it’s 13 degrees with a wind chill factor of -2. I wanna live in California!! (whine)

  22. kendoka says:

Wheeeee!!! Sounds like you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good, too – the heat stayed on the entire time. (Yay!)
    I did get a cold, though – had to miss snow tubing with the department tonight… oh well. I’m sure it’s for the best – there’s something about hurtling down a ski slope at Mach 10 on an inflated plastic ring that doesn’t seem entirely wise… (;

  23. Fabian says:

    Wil,
Looks like you had a fun weekend. At the risk of having the Wheaton -Computer-Virus sent to my e-mail. I liked the Super Bowl game. But its not for everyone. Try and have a nice week and don’t mess that grass up !!!!!

So it turns out that SuperBowl Sunday is the perfect time to go to Six Flags/Magic Mountain, which is where Wee and I spent our day. There were almost no lines for any of the rides – we only had to wait longer than 15 mins for one (Batman). My first time – it rocked! Although it was a little too warm for comfort out there… 😉
Maybe this would be a good group event for the non-sportsfan Monkeys next year? Just a thought!
Anyway, hope those thumbs heal fast, W. Feels like the nails are gonna just peel right off, doesn’t it? The perils of gaming addiction…

i watched one half of the superbowl…the second half…i watched about 2 minutes of the 36 hour pre-game show…and that 2 minutes told me all i needed to know…that it was tampa bay vs. oakland…c’mon…what else do you need to know?…just get it on and play the game!

  28. WebNuT! says:

Ah. 80 degrees. That’s nice! It’s around 20 degrees here in KY. Not too bad really for me since I spent so many years working outside at a major airport. Of course, I have a few friends in Canada and compared to what they are telling me, 20 is a heat wave LOL
Wil, I am totally glad that you aren’t sitting around, all stressed out and worrying yourself ragged over I, Robot. I have to admit, I wish I could be like that over things 🙂
    ———–
The Superbowl: (n) A three-hour long commercial, with occasional portions of a football game showing sporadicly every few minutes
    ———–
    This is unrelated to anything, but as I type this, I have a television on and I just saw a commercial for Spam (no, not the email kind, the real kind!) I’ll tell you, that is something to be stressed about! Have you ever tasted that stuff?! YUCK!! It’s the first Spam commercial I’ve seen in a while. The scary part about it, is that I used to LOVE that stuff when I was a kid. I’d eat it right out of the can! Must be why I’m such a messed up adult eh? >;}

  29. Angie says:

Wil: “Tried very hard to care about the Superbowl, but I just couldn’t do it.”
WHOO! YES! I’m with you, dude.
However, I don’t think my level of trying qualified for “very hard.” More like “hardly at all.”

  30. Carol says:
    27 January, 2003 at 7:12 pm

I meant to mention this earlier, but because I’m all about me, I forgot – mucho bueno mojo for your auditions, Wil. I hope you hear something soon.

  31. turtles11 says:
    27 January, 2003 at 7:25 pm

WTF? I’m a little jealous of your nice weather, so what? Sheesh.

  32. billyjoebob says:
    27 January, 2003 at 7:45 pm

well… i’m not going to say much about the weather, because 80 degrees farenheit (sp?) is paltry and insignificant compared to the 110+ temperatures we’ve been enduring here in the land of the Big Brown Flat Bits. I will, however, tell you, mr wheaton, that I’m on the final mission of VC and it’s very very fkkng hard. So, nothing of interest at all, really.

  33. Michelle says:
    27 January, 2003 at 7:47 pm

The 80s? One can only dream. Last time I checked the temperature here (in PA) it was -3. I’m drooling with jealousy.

  34. Deborah says:
    27 January, 2003 at 7:52 pm

Sounds great, 80 degrees, enjoy it while you can. Sorry you haven’t heard about the audition yet, but it is early days. If you want cold, anyone, try Winnipeg – windchill minus 40 – again! Enough, already, I have fantasies about buying thermal underwear…surely I should be fantasizing about some gorgeous actor or something, this is pathetic. Anyway, best mojo to you, young Wil, it will happen when it’s gonna happen…

Wiffle ball rules! Sounds like you had a blast with the boys. 😀
My roommates and I went sledding instead of watching the Superbowl. Well, instead of watching the part of the Superbowl that came after the very awesome Matrix promo.
    *geek* 😛

  46. RetroRandy says:

Yea, doncha love California. Where else in the U.S. is it in the 80’s at the end of January.
Sounds like Spring is coming early for LA.
Computers suck as far as spending lots & lots of hours and still not getting what you want done or to work right. It takes a VERY, very patient man to make them work correctly all of the time.

  47. Chuck DeZarn says:
    27 January, 2003 at 11:36 pm

Hey Wil, have you ever been to Alex Poyas’ official website? He has a forum in there and your name has been mentioned in there quite a bit… including a statement from him personally… nothing about your chances or anything but… well you should read it for yourself I guess… http://www.mysteryclock.com
go to the Forums and look around… you’ll find it.
    Chuck
P.S. have you met Tim Dezarn?

This is why we geek. 🙂

  50. Jenny Finster says:

Computers being stupid seems to be going around. My dad is fixing his and he keeps randomly unplugging the cable modem. It bugs. Oh well, what can ya do.
I felt the same way about the superbowl. I suppose I should have felt something or other since I live half an hour from Oakland…but…no. I rebelled and went to the movies. (2 thumbs up for confessions of a dangerous mind, btw)
Anyway, I’m keeping up that mojo for ya man. If not for I, Robot then for something equally as cool and rewarding. 🙂
