incentive to get WWdN back into shape

  • WWdN in Exile

I don’t care about rankings at all, because that sort of thing really only matters for marketing and ad sales, neither of which are particularly important to me right now.

But I laugh out loud whenever The Chicago Sun-Times mentions me, and whatever my Technorati rank currently is, in their Sunday paper.

To wit:

News Item: Wil Wheaton Dot Net www.wilwheaton.net,
ranked by the number of sources that link to it, falls from the 16th
most important blog in the world to an all-time-low 37th most important
blog in the world.

News Item: Approval rating for President Bush falls to an all-time-low 39 percent.

I think I read somewhere that Technorati has some new ranking algorithm that includes frequency of posts, in addition to the number of sources that link a particular site, so it’s no surprise that WWdN has dropped so much, since I haven’t been posting there for the last twenty days or so.

But now I have a real incentive to get WWdN fixed, so I can put as much distance as possible between myself and Commander Kookoo Bananas!

hey, i know i’ve just commented here, but i just had to tell you this! The TNG episode “The Game” was just on TV, and i LOVE IT! it has been my mine and my sister’s favourite episode since the first time we saw it!!!!! It’s strange to think how much you (and my sister and i) have been through since then. Also, being a sucker for the cheese factor your line, “A couple of lightyears can’t keep good friends apart” has been a bit of a motto for me, with many of my friends being in the states, and my being in the UK! anyway…just thought i’d tell you that!!
    take care wil
    Rach

You might want to be careful what you call That Man. Some employee of a large store chain might be reading this blog and feel the need to inform the police who will notify the Secret Service who will then show up and confiscate your blog.
(Sorry about that. I just read this article and I couldn’t resist. http://www.alternet.org/walmart/26503/#thumbtack)

I do not know if anyone has seen it but Wil is in the October issue of GQ.
They have an article titled “In praise of the male chick flick”
“Stand by Me” is on the list.

Not to dampen the harsh lesson to be learned by the long-coming awareness of the American people there Wil…
But you’re ranked 37th in the WORLD…The Bushinator’s numbers only represent American sentiment…imagine what a gap there is actually there when you figure in how the rest of the planet feels about him 😛

What an unsavory comparason. But, “Commander KooKoo Bananas” is priceless.

For the record: I didn’t coin the wonderful term “Commander Kookoo Bananas.”
That honor goes to a writer for The Simpsons.

Although it’d probably be nice to get WWdN back to normalcy and more people will be able read this… I like the coziness, the truth.. the “secret clubhouse” feel of it right now. I know I don’t post every day but I read every day and really have enjoyed it here the way it is. I feel like I know “the password” now. Once it goes back to normal, I’m sure I’ll still feel like a welcome guest, it’ll just be a little more crowded with a new open door policy.
    Oh well, pass the s’mores!

Awesome. Good luck on WWDN. btw – yesterday I ordered ‘Just a Geek’ and ‘Dancing Barefoot’. I can’t wait till I get them and I am looking forward to reading them.

There’s a quotation mark at the end of the Cmdr Kookoo Bananas link, makes it come back 404–delete it for the full-Homer-effect.
    D’oh!
    😀
