poker tournament just for bloggers

  • Games

I don’t have as much time to play poker as I did in days gone by, but I still love a good game of cards, whether I’m sitting at a kitchen table with my friends, a casino with strangers, or at PokerStars.

A few years ago, PokerStars started this freeroll (that’s what you call a tournament where you don’t pay anything to enter, but there’s still a big pile of money to win) for bloggers, called the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker. I played in it when I was on Team PokerStars, and I’m pretty excited to play in it this year as one of the thousands of bloggers hoping to scoop up part of the prize pool.

Anyone with a blog can enter the tournament. All you have to do is sign up and paste some code into your blog that gives the following SEOtastic result:

Texas Holdem Poker

I have registered to play in the PokerStars World Blogger Championship of Online Poker!

This Online Poker Tournament is a No Limit Texas Holdem event exclusive to Bloggers.

Registration code: 5575088

And as long as we’re talking about poker, if I convinced PokerStars to
do a freeroll for people who signed up via my blog, would you all come out
and play in it?

Frankly I loved Just a Geek and Dancing Barefoot, the price was worth it.
Can’t wait to buy the new book, autographed of course. Still waiting for it to go on sale!

I would love to play, RL permitting.
I JUST uninstalled PokerStars. I’ve never played onlline, despite meaning to for years.
Do I assume correctly that “freeroll” means we get to ride on Sweet Uncle Willie’s coattails? not being bloggers and all.

Hell yeah count me in, sure I’ll be there just to add to the numbers, but even to take part would be cool.

    Hey Wil,
Well, I went and did some research and I consider myself schooled.
Indeed, $35 is a bargain for a 9 hour audiobook.
Now, ‘scuse me while I go listen to Just A Geek.
    *Pwned*
P.S.: Next one coming to audio anytime soon?

Count me in for the PokerStars WWdN tourney as well. And hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to get on your table in the PS blog tourney.

I’ll definitely sign up for the blog invitational.
And I’d love to play in a WWDN invitational. I would do it if it was at all possible.
Speaking of which, as far as scheduling such a beast: I hate to argue with the the person who said that Sunday afternoon wouldn’t work, but I think that’s the time that would work for most people. That’s clear for:
    – people who work 9 to 5s
    – students and teachers
    – churchgoers
    – people who like to go to the beach on Saturdays.
I think Sunday is the best day to have it, even though that somewhat interferes with football; that’s what DVRs are for.

I signed up for pokerstars because of the Katrina tournament you organized. I’d participate in a wwdn associated event too.

I’m even thinking of putting up a half assed blog just to play the WBCOOP.
As for your WWDN freeroll, yeah sure, just give us ample notice, and I’m sure lots of people will show up.
Now, how to put up a blog? Maybe I’ll seeya there.
    Mark.

Yes, I would happily play in a freeroll at Stars. Thanks for asking!
Oh, and thanks for putting the Frakes raids Hilton story up on your Propeller feed. High-larious.

“I don’t have as much time to play poker as I did in days gone by…”
Dude. Weren’t those days, like, last week? Well, maybe six months ago. Your life has been moving pretty darned quickly, of late!

I’d love to play. Is there a online or mac client? All I could find was a exe to download.
I usually play on Full Tilt. They’re okay, but it’d be nice to try a new spot.

Count me in. I’m not much of a poker player, but I’m lucky.
