I don’t do a lot of interviews, but for reasons that are best left a mystery, I’ve done a whole bunch recently.
One of those interviews was with a podcast called This Week in Geek. My episode is now up, so if you wanted to listen to me talk about geeky shit and don’t want to wait for a new Radio Free Burrito, your long painful wait has come to an end.
Hey, when you’re done, check out the Radio Free Burrito Mix Tape. My iPod thought I should hear it recently, and it totally doesn’t suck.
Go do GeeksOn already!!!
geekson.com, best general geek podcast on the internets because the hosts are just awesome. (and they know Joss Whedon)
Hey Wil! Thanks again for doing the interview. I probably sounded a lot more nervous now that I listen back to it, but it was tons of fun. 🙂
“Ow! You Prick! You shot me in the tentacle… no problem, it will grow back.”
It’s a shame that the poor quality of the (VOIP/Skype?) connection during the interview made you sound like a bad Cher impersonator most of the time (‘do you belie-hieve in life after love’ *shudder*). No offense intended, but it made listening to the whole thing quite tiring.
Greetings and regards from the Netherlands,
Rudo (long time leecher/lurker, first time poster)
Yeah Internet connection was apparantly capped for us over Skype. Damn ISP
Nice interview, Wil. And your comments about Hooters is exactly what I’ve been trying to say about Playboy for years. Trying to be both a classy gentleman’s magazine, with top-notch news and reviews and interviews, and porn at the same time dilutes them both.
Hello world. Did you know you can get a Wheaton autograph for only $35? But wait, there’s more. You also get a book by John Scalzi, intro by Wil. Only 1000 printed and most have already sold, so act now. http://scalzi.com/whatever/?p=758
Proceeds go to the Athena Scalzi World Domination Foundation.
I always liked Hooters. My feeling is, you can go anywhere for food. But I like the taste of the food at Hooters. And the waitresses are good looking girls in skimpy outfits. Why the hell not go? It’s a little tacky, but it never tried to pretend it’s isn’t. That’s the great thing about it. It’s honest. Of course, I guess since the time the Hooters girl gave me her phone number and we dated for a while, maybe my story had a happier ending than Wil’s and that colored my perception a bit. haha
Hi there Wil – I hate to be so tacky as to piggyback a comment on a post about someone else’s podcast interview with you, but I’d like to take the chance to invite you to be a guest on GeeksOn.com.
We’re a “geek-lifestyles”, comedic talk-show podcast where 4 geek friends hang out and talk about something geeky in every episode: Violence in Video Games, Crime & Punishment in Sci Fi, Fate vs. Free Will, the latest movies, TV shows and “geek” politics.
Past guests we’ve had on the show include Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Richard Hatch (“Battlestar Galactica” old and new), George RR Martin (writer: Song of Fire & Ice among others), Orson Scott Card (writer: Ender’s Game, among others), Bear McCreary (composer: Battlestar Galactica (new)), Forrest J Ackerman (“father” of Science Fiction), Garret Wang (Star Trek: Voyager) and many others.
We like to invite our guests to pick a topic that they enjoy and then we sit down and do an hour long segment on it. Garret Wang, for example, wanted to talk about breaking into acting, and Joss Whedon wanted to talk about the role of artificial intelligence in our society now and in the near future.
If you’d be interested in sitting down to chat sometime here in the Los Angeles area, we’d be very happy to have you. Please feel free to check out some of our episodes when you have a spare moment and contact me if you’re interested!
Great interview, i liked geeking out with you. And how f’ing cool is that Geek:Don just invited you to GeeksOn.com???
Cool!
Dude:
I saw this:
WW: Yeah, my superhero ability. Everybody has a superhero power, and you just gotta figure out what it is. For example, my wife’s superhero power is that she can identify any song, pretty much ever recorded, usually within the first three notes. It’s weird. It’s a great power. My super power is that I never get lost. Once I know where I am, if I were a role-playing character I would have absolute direction.
from your interview here: http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/05/29/conversations-with-god-wil-wheaton/
and I have to say that is awesome. That’s MY theory! Everyone has one power, that’s it. You get one. I have a friend, the calculator, I can spell anything, and you could have joined my superhero group, but I already have a friend with an internal compass.
Just thought it was awesome to see others thinking like me….
Oh, and happy birthday you happy farker!
