When I was in Seattle for Child’s Play dinner and D&D with Acquisitions, Incorporated, I got to go to Microsoft’s Millennium campus, where I did a podcast with Major Nelson.
We talked about a lot of different things (mostly gaming, which will probably be unsurprising considering that it’s a gaming-oriented podcast) but I also revealed some news that I don’t think I’ve spoken about anywhere else . . . he typed, enticingly, before leaning back in his chair and sipping his coffee. “Oh yes, that will get people to listen,” he thought. “You’re a clever one, you are.”
“Not as clever as you think!” The dog said.
He fell backward and landed on the floor, the mug shattering and splashing hot liquid across his chest. “A talking dog?! Surely this can’t be happening!”
“It is happening,” the dog said, drawing a dog-sized pistol, “and don’t call me Shirley.”
…
Um. What just happened?

*snrk* Glad you had fun.
That was hilarious.
About 12 years ago, my husband was working patrol in the Hollywood Division, and pulled up behind some guy that was double-parked in front of a theater. When my husband walked up to the car, he discovered it was Robert Hays, discussing something with the driver of the parked car. When my husband, the police officer, approached Robert, he recognized him and said, “Surely you’re not going to be here long, are you?” And Robert smiled and said “I’m moving the car right now, officer. And don’t call me Shirley.” My husband smiled and just walked back to his patrol car.
Good times.
I picked a bad morning to quit sniffing glue.
This blog almost made sense.
Woo! Podcast! Let’s see what Wil is announcing to the world…
…time passes…
…huh. Guess I’d better get cracking on that page design. 😉
I feel like I just waltzed with you, Jonathan Carroll, Stephen King, AND the Coen Brothers all at once.
Also, Major Nelson!! Was Genie there… (i’ve been trying to bite my tongue on that for days now…forgive me).
That was funny as hell. I haven’t listened to a Nelson-cast for a while now. Seems like a good show to get back on the wagon.
Where in the world did you get a dog with opposable thumbs? That. Is. Awesome.
That Airplane reference never gets old…
Sometimes you remind me of me, and I don’t know if both of us should be scared by it, or just pleased that we’re not alone.
Does anyone here like watching gladiator movies?
I listened to the Major Nelson Podcast, thought it was great. Thank you for being one of our greatest geek ambassadors to the world. If I could get Kevin Rose, Leo Laporte and Alex Albrecht, and yourself in a room, that would be a great conversation to witness.
Dying to hear the D&D podcast! You, Gabe, Tycho and Scott K. all in one room? I don’t think I’ll be able to stand it. I might implode.
I’d add Munchkin (and its numerous add-ons) to the list. The gameplay isn’t too difficult for kids to get and the puns are funny even for the normals.
Also, my husband sends his sympathy on your Illuminati plight. I don’t glaze over about the game, but I still refuse to play it with him.
I would like four fried chickens and a Coke.
I know everyone has their own taste but I don’t see why you feel the PS3 haven’t produced anything that makes you pick the xBox 360 over it. I have played on both products and I really do not see 360 as so much better or much worse.
But of course I think the answer is how you felt about the root-kit deal from Sony. Well, look at Microsoft and what they have done through out the years. You can’t say that they haven’t done “evil” things too that gives a lot of people (just look at slashdot) a sour taste in their mouths. And I don’t believe the Playstation section is involved with Sony’s music department. Frankly I think you were a little unfair towards the PS3, because you do have that notion towards the root-kit deal. I like the PS3, I look the feel of the controller (I find the xBox controller worse), and other reasons. Maybe that makes me a PS3 fan-boy, and of course you have the right to like the 360 better. I just felt you were too bias because of the “brand-hate.”
“like the feel.” Sorry about that typo (and all the grammar errors, etc. Foreign 😉 )
