This Friday, I'm moderating the Big Bang Theory panel at Comic-con. The entire cast will be in attendance, as well as series creators Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre. We only have an hour, which always goes by faster than we think, so I'm going to start out with a handful of my own questions before I invite questions from the audience.
While preparing my questions, I've talked to some friends of mine who are fans of the show, and I also thought that I had a unique opportunity to reach out to a larger audience, right here on my blog.
So: If you could ask the cast and creators of The Big Bang Theory something about the show, what would it be? What are you interested in knowing from them?
Ask your question in a comment here, and I'll take some of them with me to the panel this Friday.
Edited at 8:52am 7/22: Wow, over 200 questions and comments! Awesome. I used your questions to get some idea of what fans of the show (well, this is a small sample size, but you're the ones who responded, so you get to speak for the entire audience) wanted to know. I picked out a couple of specific questions from some of you, too.
You can keep commenting here, but any questions you ask I won't be able to use, because I have to get on the road in about 15 minutes, and my questions are now chosen and locked in. But, sincerely, thank you for taking the time to contribute here; I feel more confident and secure about moderating this panel now than I did 24 hours ago.

They need to play a good ol’ fashioned game of Dungeons and Dragons. Anyone of those guys has sat at one of our game tables at one point or another.
Ask when will they make Evil Wil Wheaton a regular cast member?
Do they have a “geek expert” on set to ensure everything seen on-camera and said is “correct”? If not, will they hire me? ^_^
Why do you think it’s okay for the one ethnic guy in your cast to make all the ethnic and racial jokes? If you stopped doing this after the first six episodes, let me know and I’ll start watching again.
What is the full Food/Activity schedule of the group? (ie. what food what day for what meal, movie days, etc)
I would like to know what each of the cast members thinks is the geekiest thing they have had to do since the beginning of the show
Ask them “What is it like working with Wil Wheaton?” 😉
I’d ask them why they are not wearing Fark T-shirts and Wil Wheaton clown sweaters.
Does Jim Parsons share any character traits with Sheldon Cooper?
If one famous person from any time in history could guest star on the show, who would it be and why?
It was a brave move to make a sitcom focused at such a tight demographic. A demographic that I don’t think is well associated with watching sitcoms. Geeks are more tied to Syfy and Cartoon Network types of shows.
How was that leap made and what obstacles were faced in selling that idea.
How often do you feel dumb when you’re saying a really scientific line?
How do they decide on Sheldon’s shirts?
I’d like to know why the science jokes have got fewer and fewer as the seasons have gone on. Did they not go down well? I miss them. Spherical chickens in a vacuum!
Homo habilis discovering his opposable thumbs says what? is a regular put down at work.
Ask if they are going to continue to have Rosanne alum guest spots.
Where have all the science jokes gone?? Season 3 has been almost completely devoid of science jokes. You can’t trade on Sheldon saying Bazinga forever. I want more spherical chickens in a vacuum!
I would ask “when the 4th season comes out?”. 🙂
What have you you not yet touched upon in the geek lifestyle, and who are some of the dream geek walk-on’s you’d like to see on the show?
Any of you guys have a hacked phone?
My question would be directed to the writers first, but everyone is allowed to answer. How and where do you draw the line when it comes to science, nerdiness, geekiness, etc? What would stop you from doing a storyline because it would be “too much” and can there be too much?
Oh, and more @wilw on the show please 🙂
How is Penny able to afford to stay in the same apartment building as two Ph.D. scientists?
Are there any particular areas of Physics that seem funnier than others?
And a second question: Will other studies be featured besides neurology, like history, literature, anthropology, and so on?
Have you used your celebrity status to meet any of your childhood geek heroes?
Why aren’t BBT episodes available for streaming?
Bazinga!
Will Stephen Hawking ever guest star? Has he been approached yet?
If you can’t tell us Penny’s last name, can you tell us when we’ll find out what it is?
Why doesn’t Lenard take Lactaid so he can eat dairy?
Will Penny and Leonard ever reconcile or will he find somebody else that will help to mend his broken heart? I know this sounds annoyingly female of me, but …
Who was their favorite guest star to work with? (This one plays to your favor, Wil! ;))
I really think this show is more than an amazing comedy; it’s also making ordinary folks see science from a fun angle, which helps spark more public support. I’d love to know if or how working on the show has changed their interest in or appreciation of science?
I’d ask if writing the show ever spawns any geeky arguments for the writers, i.e.: “Sheldon would NEVER like The Matrix. The physics there is just too impossible.” “Of course he’s LOVE The Matrix.”
Sheldon has you as his arch-enemy; who would the other cast members see as theirs? (Not including Sheldon, that is.)
What is the probability of Sheldon getting a girlfriend in the next two seasons? If answer is greater than or equal to 50%, what is the probability of said girlfriend to be Leonard’s mom?
When will Mark Hamil guest star as his “real” father?
I’ve always wanted to ask them if Sheldon is color blind, because his wardrobe choices really make me wonder about that.
What the heck is on the wall just to the left of the hallway?
Have they thought about how Sheldon was planning to produce sperm in the pilot given his apparent lack of “deal”?
Will Sheldon ever meet up with Geoff Johns and fight with him for ownership of a Green Lantern ring?
Also, I second them having an episode of playing a RPG. With Evil Wil Wheaton as the DM! 😀
I would like to know if there is anything in the awesome card catalog that’s in Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment. Do they keep funny stuff in there? Secret inside-joke things? Or is it just empty?
Great Show, which means your guaranteed to get cut. Will it be SyFy or ComedyCentral that picks you up when you get canceled?
Michigan is becoming a popular locale for video game designing… it seems like a place the cast might find an excuse to visit on the show (we sure could use the publicity, too!)
Which of the four in the main cast has the most trouble with lines including heavy science and technology terminology?
Also, in the off chance some of the concepts or facts on the show are incorrect, how much a response do they get from fans pointing out inconsisties and mistakes (a la Mybuster-fans)?
I’m full up to date on the show, but based on what I’ve seen I’d think the most important question would be when are they going to get rid of that damn laugh track. For a show that’s supposed to be smart, why is it telling it’s audience when to laugh?
So like, are you guys actually geek-savvy, or are you just pretending?
If he’s so smart, how come he’s dead?
(I don’t really care who the “he” is in this case, just want their reaction to the question)
Are any of the actors or writers on the show members of Mensa?
Do they need a Red-headed nerdy sex kitten on the show?
😉
So if Sheldon likes Ubuntu (and I thought he would be more of a Gentoo or straight Debian person) where do the other ‘players’ stand with Linux distributions? [And where would a distribution send T-shirts/dress shirts to get mentioned too :)?]
It seems the writers teased at a Penny/Sheldon possible relationship… while keeping the Leonard/Penny “doors” open. Can you please promise this won’t turn into a melodramatic love triangle?
Team Leonard! Team Sheldon! Team Edwar–*gag*
