I obviously had to order one of these the day they went on sale, because of reasons.

If anyone should have been given a freebie on this product…ummm, helloooo? Thinkgeek, you dropped the ball! πŸ˜›

Wil gracefully declines our freebies because he’s got integrity. πŸ™‚

He bought a jacket with a hood
Now feels strange but also good
I could have told Wil Wheaton so
He’s not like any normal Joe
At one time he was on Star Trek
Now plays games for his pay-check
    Nostalgia is a pleasant mood
And now he has a Wesley-hood.

I think the shirt is wonderful. I think you are awesome for wanting one, and getting it, and blogging about it. The only thing I am not enthusiastic about is ThinkGeek. How could they not have contacted you, asked you to model it for the catalog, and then given you a free one? What a missed opportunity! Who is in charge of their marketing?!?! Total fail on their part.

Maybe you could get “No, I’m not going to Shut Up.” stitched on the back. Heh.

Maybe get the Senior Staff back together and give them ALL a shirt like that.

I now have this image in my head of a scene playing out in ThinkGeek HQ:

Frank, the Think Geek warehouse worker is pulling stock, filling boxes…picks up an order sheet, sees “1 Wesley Crush hoodie”. Places hoodie in box. Looks at order again, “going to…oh…my…dear…lord!” Stops. Jaw drops.

“Frank? Frank, you OK, buddy?” asks a concerned coworker. Frank closes his mouth, nods slowly. He could try to explain, but in that moment he decides…this special moment shall be his. His alone.

“No,” says Frank, “I’m fine. It’s all good.”

I hope you ordered extra to give as gifts to all of the TNG cast members when you see them at conventions.

  21. joshuamneff says:

That reminds me: I was watching some Next Gen on Netflix (NextFlix?) the other day, and it suddenly occurred to me what my biggest problem is with the treatment of Wesley. In the first season, it’s established that he’s a genius with an inherent understanding of physics that transcends most people’s–and they make him the pilot, reduced to saying, “Course plotted, sir!” over and over again? Why not make him an intern in engineering or acting science officer or something that is actually connected to his skills, abilities, and interests? “Wow, Mozart, you’re just intuitively brilliant when it comes to music! Here, come to the royal court, where we’ll make you a carriage driver because fuck you.”

    1. Harpo says:

And what a perfect set-up for a spin-off! He left with the traveler dude to wander around learning about the universe. Required next series.

    2. Douglas E. Berry says:
      14 November, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Exactly what I’ve been saying all these years. Wesley should have been encouraged to develop his abilities. I was really upset that Scotty never met Wesley in “Relics” as they would be kindred spirits.

I’m sad that you hated the hair. I totally modeled my hair at that age after the Wesley Season 4 (real uniform) style. Looking slick in that hoodie though. I feel like you are one of the very few people who can actually pull that hoodie off… for… reasons…

I did the same, Fourth grade until late into High School I was doing my best to do the “Wesley Crusher” look. Got made fun of all time, but I didn’t care.
