I obviously had to order one of these the day they went on sale, because of reasons.

The one time in years I deliberately point people to my blog for ONE PURPOSE, I discovered that WordPress hid the thing I wanted them to see. Neat.
I noticed something about the way I read books, yesterday. When I start a book, it's like I'm sitting in an empty space, completely surrounded by the fog of war. Over some number of pages, that fog is pushed back and the world in the book begins to populate the formerly-empty space. Eventually, that space is on the other side of a portal that I step through as effortlessly as I open the cover of the book. I guess I've been doing this my whole life, but I didn't actually notice and note it until yesterday.
Originally written in 2021, The Ghosts of Christmas Past is a tapestry woven from painful and joyful memories that all decided to surround me that December. I've added to it once, in 2023, and I added to it again this year.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, in the 70s and 80s. I remember when this kid -- who nobody thought could even make the final, much less win -- in the All Valley Karate Championship.

GOLD!! 😀 That’s awesome.
Why am I now singing Wil Wheaton went a shopping uh huh.. Oh Wil Wheaton went a shopping uh huh… Ohhhhh Wil Wheaton went a shopping yes he bought him a hoodie uh huh…..
This thrills and fulfills me in ways I didn’t know I needed.
If anyone should have been given a freebie on this product…ummm, helloooo? Thinkgeek, you dropped the ball! 😛
Wil gracefully declines our freebies because he’s got integrity. 🙂
He bought a jacket with a hood
Now feels strange but also good
I could have told Wil Wheaton so
He’s not like any normal Joe
At one time he was on Star Trek
Now plays games for his pay-check
Nostalgia is a pleasant mood
And now he has a Wesley-hood.
I want to upvote this, give it a +1, like it, then favorite it. That was quite Wil done, sir.
Touche!!
You just look so happy it fills me with all the joy in the world.
AWESOME!!! I hoped you saw this!!
I think the shirt is wonderful. I think you are awesome for wanting one, and getting it, and blogging about it. The only thing I am not enthusiastic about is ThinkGeek. How could they not have contacted you, asked you to model it for the catalog, and then given you a free one? What a missed opportunity! Who is in charge of their marketing?!?! Total fail on their part.
Just ordered mine!! 🙂
Maybe you could get “No, I’m not going to Shut Up.” stitched on the back. Heh.
Maybe get the Senior Staff back together and give them ALL a shirt like that.
I now have this image in my head of a scene playing out in ThinkGeek HQ:
Frank, the Think Geek warehouse worker is pulling stock, filling boxes…picks up an order sheet, sees “1 Wesley Crush hoodie”. Places hoodie in box. Looks at order again, “going to…oh…my…dear…lord!” Stops. Jaw drops.
“Frank? Frank, you OK, buddy?” asks a concerned coworker. Frank closes his mouth, nods slowly. He could try to explain, but in that moment he decides…this special moment shall be his. His alone.
“No,” says Frank, “I’m fine. It’s all good.”
Now if only you could find the clown sweater hoodie…
Wait wait wait…. You had to order one? YOU ARE THE REASON IT’S COOL! faints
I hope you ordered extra to give as gifts to all of the TNG cast members when you see them at conventions.
Imagine a cast picture with all of you wearing these.
I’m after a Sparks Mcgee Hoodie 😀
That hoodie + fedora = Sparks McGee, right?
this is so meta I can’t even
also I think it would not be half as good if they had made you be their testimonial
It had to happen. It just had to.
There needs to be a new Star Trek series focusing on Wesley Crusher.
hahaha! So awesome!
Wil is suddenly cast as The Traveller in the new Star Trek movie (ok, so maybe its the script that -I- would come up with 🙂
That reminds me: I was watching some Next Gen on Netflix (NextFlix?) the other day, and it suddenly occurred to me what my biggest problem is with the treatment of Wesley. In the first season, it’s established that he’s a genius with an inherent understanding of physics that transcends most people’s–and they make him the pilot, reduced to saying, “Course plotted, sir!” over and over again? Why not make him an intern in engineering or acting science officer or something that is actually connected to his skills, abilities, and interests? “Wow, Mozart, you’re just intuitively brilliant when it comes to music! Here, come to the royal court, where we’ll make you a carriage driver because fuck you.”
And what a perfect set-up for a spin-off! He left with the traveler dude to wander around learning about the universe. Required next series.
Exactly what I’ve been saying all these years. Wesley should have been encouraged to develop his abilities. I was really upset that Scotty never met Wesley in “Relics” as they would be kindred spirits.
Love the hoodie! The picture too.
Lol nice
It’s velour, right?
RIGHT?!
Thinkgeek employee: “The fuck? Wil Wheaton?!”
Great hoodie but where can I get one of those dice/atom paintings/prints that I see in the background? I would love to have one of those!
Wil’s canvas art is at http://shirt.woot.com/offers/how-we-roll-4-sizes-1
eeeeexccelenttttttttttttttttttt
You need to wear a cowboy hat with that hoodie.
I’m sad that you hated the hair. I totally modeled my hair at that age after the Wesley Season 4 (real uniform) style. Looking slick in that hoodie though. I feel like you are one of the very few people who can actually pull that hoodie off… for… reasons…
I did the same, Fourth grade until late into High School I was doing my best to do the “Wesley Crusher” look. Got made fun of all time, but I didn’t care.
Thats so meta.
That is just brilliant!
I think you should be on “The Big Bang Theory” wearing it!
Please tell me you were wearing your hideously hilarious clown sweater underneath?
The best part is the product description: Zip It, Wesley.
That’s gold…
They should have sent you one for free man. SWAG
Now this is the kind of thing that ought to break the Internet.
I had seen this on ThinkGeek as I frequent that site a lot and I thought “Does Wil Wheaton have one of these? It would be so cool if he did!”. Now there is proof and it is awesome.
