It’s finally here! Tabletop is back on YouTube, where anyone can watch it how and when they want! Yay!
We return with Monarch, a delightful game that I just loved playing, with three amazing humans who I am so lucky to call my friends.
A personal note to my friend Ashley Clements: I’m sorry they picked such an unflattering photo for the thumbnail. I’m throwing up my hands at this point.

Howdy, sir! I decided I couldn’t wait to dive into this season and have been watching it all on Alpha. I wanted to let you know that I’ve really enjoyed it so far and I hope you’re super proud of this wonderful thing that you and a bunch of other talented people made. 😀
And it’s hard to TAKE an unflattering photo of Ashley Clements.
Precisely. That is NOT unflattering. You rock Ashley. Rare fail Wil. :^D
So glad Tabletop is back. Fun!
Huzzah! (not ironically)
With any luck alpha is falling over sufficiently hard that we can go back to watching things on youtube.
Does anyone have the viewing numbers on Alpha? I wouldn’t be surprised if they could make more money with the ad revenue on youtube than from the few subscribers.
I just wanted to say thank you, Wil. I know you’ve had some tough times with Tabletop, and I’m not just talking about your win streaks. Just wanted you to know I’ve always loved watching them, and they’ve continued to give my family tons of fun, both in games we bought because of the show, and in just watching the show itself!
Welcome back Tabletop! Be proud getting this series out. It has introduced (or reintroduced) a lot of us to board games and connecting with friends. Thanks Wil Wheaton.
OH THANK BABY JESUS ITS BACK ON!
Hi everyone
I like boardgames, but this show turned me into a boardgame aficionado. I can honestly say I’ve never watched a web show that is as funny, witty, entertaining and relaxing as Tabletop. Thank you Wil Wheaton! I work as a 3D artist at a video game company and I took the liberty of recreating you as a stylized video game character. I hope you like it.

Rock on!
Dude, that 3D model is AWESOME. Great work!
This is really cool.
Yay!!!
I am so happy to be able to see the show again! Thank you for making it, and I hope you’ll keep making it. I love hearing little inside stories and anecdotes from the show, please tell us more.
And not to be an ungrateful ass, but… can you tell us if/when Titansgrave season 2 will be made?
You’re not being ungrateful, but I can’t give you an answer to that question right now.
So excited for season 4! Watching you play games really inspired me to start playing. I was actually thinking about you and TableTop last night when I got to play the Seafaring Expansion of Settlers. I managed to get myself spectacularly landlocked fairly early on. Anyway, thank you so much for making TableTop. I’ll be having a watch of this tonight. 🙂
Yay! I’m so glad. I’m not saying that TableTop changed my life but… TableTop changed my life. Wait.wut? No it was aliens.
Eh, I don’t know… i kind of like the framing of the thumbnail, with the logo sitting on her finger. 🙂
Hey Wil, as much as the debacle was with releasing Tabletop on another streaming site was for the show, are you being a little hard on the production? It seems like every season there is something you’re super not on board with or upset about and I’m just curious if this is your own anxiety or if the show just has a lot of consistent problems behind the scenes.
Either way, I’m glad the show is back on Youtube and I look forward to playing more games.
Probably a little bit of both.
As a follow up, my wife and I watched the episode and it was fantastic. Compared to past seasons this episode felt to flow nicely, the highlight reel mid-episode of stuff we missed actually helped explain why players were ahead or behind, and the table banter was great. We’re both into this game and are definitely going to pick it up.
Thanks Wil!
I’m very excited to see TableTop return once again, and can’t wait to add a whole swath of new games to my library based on what you show. Already I want to get Monarch for my collection. 🙂 Also eager to hear of any updates regarding Titansgrave, whenever that comes out. Love you Wil! <3
Hopefully we can leave the political hatred behind and GAMES!
Thank you so much for doing another season! There are so many of us who appreciate what goes into the process.
Check out Neal Brennen’s new standup routine. I’d never heard of this guy but he’s great. The routine is in three parts – he calls it “3-mics”. Part one is him just standing at the mic reading one-liners off of 3×5 cards. They’re dumb jokes, but funny – think Steven Wright but with Bill Hicks attitude. Then he talks about his depression, which is serious, but also – hilarious. (and why I mention it here) Then he just talks about life. Again – funny as h*, but anyway, he is fairly brutal describing depression and getting the nature of it across to the audience like a professor in a classroom – though again – he somehow makes it hilarious. Very talented guy and he’s doing a service for people with depression by correcting misinformation in the best possible way – getting people to open up with humor and then teaching while they laugh. Brilliant stuff. Never seen a stand up routine quite like it.
So what’s the schedule on YouTube going to be? One video a year, every week of January 30?
It is supposed to be every other week.
That’s not so bad. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
Hooray for something fun to watch!
The art endures. I understand NDAs and how they work. I am an executive in print media. I know you can’t comment on process or how the product is delivered. I know the process has become something quite different from what you thought it would be. Just remember, the art endures. What you helped make is brilliant and important in so many lives. What? This is just a nerdy little gaming show? It is, but it is also about the collaborative power of games to build communities, bring people together and build common experiences. The differences between me and my conservative friends disappear when we are gaming. It makes us less divided, distrustful and convinced the other side is evil. My autistic sons have found a way to express themselves through gaming and the legitimacy you’ve helped bring to it, that they would not have witjout your work. Wil Wheaton is someone they love and respect because he is honest in the joy he brings to what he does. They share that joy. I’ve been reading your blog long enough to understand there is a beast lurking over your shoulder. It likes to tap you on it and tell you all the ways you have failed. Don’t listen. You have changed the world in wonderful and simple ways that have made a huge difference in many peoples lives. Said another way, Rock on Brother!.
Lovely words! I hope that beast withers and dies.
I really liked the show! Thanks. I didn’t know the game, but it looks interesting. I look forward to watching the other shows.
Unflattering? I don’t think so. But even if it was, I’m sure that’s just the Universe’s way of putting the flattery bucket back in balance, after Ashley tilted it so far to one side. (sorry, Universe… I think I just nudged it a little bit out of balance again).
I fell asleep watching this episode (long week at work) and my nine year old daughter woke me up saying “we have to buy this game!” I don’t remember ordering it but it showed up at our door two days later. We’ve played it a lot and she loves it. Thank you. ps she also asked how she could be a guest on the show. I told her become an actor or design a board game :). We’ll see how that goes.
So, season 5?
What about Scythe?
I’m a little late to the game (yeah, I went there), but THANK YOU so much for bringing Tabletop back to where I don’t have to HUNT for it! This was great fun to watch; I’m sure it had to have been as much fun to play.
I just wanted to echo everyone and say yay Tabletop and yay for having 3 women guests this time and yay for highlighting and introducing a game that is made by a female game designer and inclusive of women! I have some THOUGHTS on all the crude comments objectifying the guests and/or whining about the slight focus on women in gaming (and in this game in particular) but for now I’ll just say I’m glad you are you and that you’re a spokesperson for this hobby. 🙂
