And now, an infrequent reminder that you can play poker with me tonight, and every Tuesday night, at PokerStars (or just download the client and watch us play, though I don’t think you can chat with us unless you have at least $11 in your account.)
To sign up, go to Tourneys -> Private and look for WWdN:Change100 Invitational. I’m hoping for over 100 players this week, so the final two tables will pay out.

Mm…it’s a reasonable time, but we’re getting ready to sell our house. I’ll try for this one next week.
Wil, could you put an item on the side bar that gives a list of upcoming Poker things? That would be nice.

Whatever happened to your pro-linux, mac etc. stance? I assume that as the PokerStars client is Winblow$ only you must have gone over to the dark side?!?
I’d love to at least sit and watch some of the tourneys, so maybe I’ll try to run it with Wine or Qemus, but it’s a lot of effort. Any chance you are working on the inside, pushing for a linux client 😉
OMG!! I would just DIE for a Heads-Up match with you will! And I am for a 22+2 whatever higher buy in if it means smaller number of people play and I have a better chance of making top 9 lol 😀 As it is now.. I barely make the 11 dollar tourneys.
Wil,
I REALLY want to play in your tournament, but it’s basically impossible for me to get money into my account. Do you think it would be possible to set up a play money WWdN tournament at some point?
Or alternatively can you suggest a way to get money into a poker stars account by means other than the ways on pokerstars (i.e, some sort of deal with someone).
Crispian, I run the Pokerstars client under Wine. It is probably the easiest Wine installation I’ve ever done. Click on the link, select open using Wine, installation runs, Pokerstars icon on your desktop!
Long time reader, first time poster – I am dying to get into one of there tourneys, but I always forget about them and the post goes up on the day of – A side bar with upcoming poker things is a great idea (credit to Craig S.)
Also Wil, any advice for an east coaster making a business trip to LA on where to find good action (poker, not hookers)? I know about Commerce, but can you make any other suggestions? Thanks.
Well, Apple made it possible to do it all with their new BootCamp…running OSX, XP, and Linux on the same box just became possible…as long as you buy a new machine that is….
Crispian, I run PokerStars (and PokerStove, and a few other poker sites) in WINE on my Debian box with no problems at all (though I had to pin wine to release 0.9.10, because of some font issues I can’t solve on my own in 0.9.12.)
I’m pretty offended that you’d accuse me of suddenly abandoning any commitment I have to open source software, without considering that I may use WINE or some other emulator to run PokerStars. And “Winblow$”? We’re never going to convince windows users to give Linux a try if we insult them and their operating system like that.
Wil, I apologise for any offense caused- none meant! I was intending a little tongue-in-cheek humour at the thought of you working for the cause from the inside (note the use of multiple punctuation- “?!?” and a wink- “;)”).
I have indeed now installed PokerStars with wine 0.9-1, and it works like a charm 🙂
As to the derogatory reference to Windows, you are probably right- I run the risk of becoming like those mentioned here. But if you’d had the kind of day I had yesterday fighting with Windows at work (where I have to use it) you’d be a little less than enthusiastic about it. But point taken- let’s focus on the good of Linux rather than the bad of Windows!
Wil,
For those of us whose wives DESPISE gambling in general….and specifically online poker….and who therefore cash out when we hit $60 (so we can take the $50 min and still have $10 left), would you consider a Micro tournament?
