50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

and now, your daily dose of zombies

  • Film

Think Geek has way, way, way too much fun with the Dismember Me Plush Zombies:

When I see stuff like this, I am inspired to make silly short films like this of my own. Then I look at all the other stuff I have to do, and I’m a little sad that I can’t. Then I remember how lucky I am that I get to do all the things I get to do, and I feel like a dick for feeling sad. Then I watch the video again, and want to make a silly short film of my own. Then, I resolve to break the cycle, realize that it’s probably time for a Guinness, and all is right with the world.

(Seriously, though, isn’t it awesome to live at a moment in history when any creative person with a small budget can make something awesome and freely share it with the world? That wasn’t possible as recently as ten years ago.)

    That’s pretty cool.
So, since you brought up zombies and cool projects… ah, I’ll just email you. After more coffee.

Not only do the ThinkGeek guys get to make fun videos like this but they got invited to the Luna City Arcade for a private party: http://tinyurl.com/3j9w6x (some day I’ll figure out how to embed links here).
And this is their JOB! How cool is that?!
Though to be fair, they don’t run into Seth Green playing ping-pong when they go to work like *some* people. 😉

This is the second dose of funny I’ve gotten today…I must need it. This was great (and inspiring to my creative gene as well) – Thanks!

I always wished that you would do some web-video-series akin to what Felicia Day is doing with “The Guild”, perhaps together with some of the ACME folks.
But of course, the risk that this could be a huge waste of time and energy is there. Personally. I’d think it’s a small risk 😉 — but it’s a risk none the less.

Unfortunately, my work blocks video content like this. So I can’t comment on the vid. I keep coming here, though, to look for a mention of when your next appearance on TV will be. I know you filmed some crime show and do lot’s of voice work. Why don’t you put a new link near the top of the page with a calendar showing all of your up-coming appearances – whether voice work or nifty real-live action. Then I wouldn’t have to bug you with messages like this.

Do it. Do it! DO IT!
    It would be be awesome!
If you have the time, that is.

OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGod, somebody needs to do this:
I know it was a bit on Family Guy but it just has to be done. McCain’s bizarre reference to Obama–you know the one I mean–cutting right to… come on, think about it, and you’ll get there with me… Barack’s face on a kite with a flip hairdo… Would it be awesome, or what?!?!?! I’d do it myself if I knew how, but I don’t, and I’m telling you it must be done! (or have I just waited too long to eat dinner again?)

That is too cool. My husband is drooling over those so I’m sensing a purchase in my near future…

You are 36 years old, and you think that video Is “awesome”
Now I know why your career Is In the toilet.
Damn, 36 years old and you still use the word “awesome”

  18. Hez says:
    11 October, 2008 at 6:02 am

I hate to break this to you, Nomad, but lots of people still use the word “awesome” (including people older than 36). Wil’s career isn’t in the “toilet,” as you say. If you actually bothered to read his posts, you’d see evidence of that. Based on your lack of correct capitalization and punctuation, one assumes you’re much younger than 36. You might want to work on that if you want people to take you seriously.
    /end chiding Nomad/
Sorry about that. I do think it’s awesome that we live in a time where people can make fun and creative projects like this and share them with the world. It’s one of my favorite things about the internet, seeing what people have created. Thanks for posting this!

@Hez: Occasionally, when someone I don’t recognize spouts off some insulting bunch of crap, I head into the backend of Typepad and search for all comments from that user. That way, I can see if it’s some one time hit-n-run idiot, or someone who has a history of not following the “don’t be a dick” rule who needs to have his commenting privileges revoked.
“Nomad” has made three comments since 2006, including the one on this post. They’ve all been childish insults based on ignorance. Nomad clearly has nothing useful to add to our collective conversation here, and his commenting privileges have been revoked.

TPS reports . . . now the most used report in movies. Bet they couldn’t predict that back in ’99.
    🙂
That is a great zombie short and it is awesome that great shorts can be made and distributed now. Best one I’ve seen lately is:
How not to talk to a cop

  21. Fenn says:
    11 October, 2008 at 12:08 pm

But… that video *was* awesome! What other word should be used?
I’m 43, and I still use “awesome.” My career IS in the toilet, but that’s because I’m incredibly lazy, not something as asinine as having one particular word in my vocabulary.

I really enjoy reading your blogs 🙂 I hope to soon venture into picking up a book or two as well!
Family Guy is awesome, I look forward to seeing that Epi.
New here so, Hello from Minnesota!

Damn you Wil, now I have to get me some Dismember me plushies!! Like I really needed to spend more money on stuffed toys!!!
But they’re too AWESOME (okay I’m only 25, but still) not to have!
    *smiles*
