Wil Wheaton’s 2008 PAX Schedule
ByWilI don’t think casual is killing core gaming at all, but I’m interested to hear from people who think it is, and tell them why they’re so very very wrong. … There are two absolutely awesome panels at the same time, including Family Feud with Gabe and Tycho, and if the panel didn’t have my name in it, I would skip it, too. However, for those of you who will be in attendance, due to your sacred vow to never watch Family Feud, I’ll be reading from Happiest Days and Sunken Treasure , wand I’ll do a Q&A if there’s enough interest.
in which diablo 3 is played with my son
ByWilIt’s not the deepest game in the world, and it isn’t going to replace the experience I have when I play a tabletop RPG with my friends, but as a social experience with my son that was pretty easy to play for a little bit and then walk away from, it gives me exactly what I need.

HopCon is coming!
ByWilIt’s become an annual San Diego Comicon tradition: HopCon, at Stone Brewing’s Liberty Station. We release W00tstout, have a big old party, and tap a bunch of rare kegs and interesting casks for fans of great beer to enjoy … and the whole thing is a fundraiser for The Hero Initiative! This year, something special…
a powerful magic-user will destroy all cave invaders
ByWilI don’t know how much the general public knows about the guys behind the characters in Penny Arcade, but I know them fairly well. I don’t think it would be cool to rip back the curtain too much and spoil their mystique, but they are just good people. I’m really lucky to call them friends.
Tabletop Season Three Premieres with Tokaido!
ByWilIt’s finally here! Our third season of Tabletop officially kicks off today, with Tokaido. I love this game so much, and I hope we captured the beauty, balance, and wonderful mix of strategy and guile that goes into each turn. I played with my pal Chris Kluwe, J. August Richards (who some of you may…

One thing I didn’t understand: if you have to take money from the bank, why would you NOT just go ahead an take all 4 bank cards (it seemed like there was no limit to how many you could take)?
You can draw one money card of any value, or any combination of cards totaling five or less.
It was explained the first time someone took money that you could take multiple cards as long as they don’t add up to more than five.
You can’t take more than 5 total points from the bank; that is the limit.
And Wil, I can’t believe Dodger actually sent in the picture of the token affixed to her wall by her name tape. That was AWESOME.
MORE TABLETOP!
You can only take more money from the bank if they total 5 or less. So you can take one 8, or a 2 and a 3…. But couldn’t sweep the board.
I believe that when taking more than one bank card the total value must be 5 or less
Ah, thanks, all! Somehow I missed that point!
Yay! XD
I just wanted to leave you a note saying that all day I’ve been trying to figure out what TV show was coming back on that I needed to make sure I set my DVR for. I knew something was coming back, I just couldn’t remember what. Doctor Who already had its Christmas special, Game of Thrones and Walking Dead aren’t back for a month (or three), and I just couldn’t get it out of my head that I was forgetting something. About 20 minutes ago I remembered it was Tabletop. So apparently in my mind your show is right up there with my other favorites no matter the medium and I’m pumped to have it back. Just thought I’d share that with you.
Looks like a fun time was had by…. Dodger!
You make me want to spend all my monies :o) off to eBay right now.
Dodger is right – this show is GENIUS!
My favorite show is back 🙂 woo!
Yeah, Tabletop is back! Any news on a second season? (please please please please please)
Hi Wil, I have an idea/request – is there any chance you could take an episode to highlight games that 2 people can play? My husband and I like to play games together and often don’t have the chance to play with other people. We play a lot of the classics that can be played with only 2: Scrabble, Mille Bornes, Pente, etc… but would love to be clued in on newer games that accommodate only 2 players.
When I voiced this idea to my husband he volunteered me as a guest, but I think you and Anne would be much cuter in this regard! 😉
This is actually part of my plans for this year, whether we get a second season or not. I would like to host a short show (length of the flog) that focuses on different games that I love, but can’t play on the show for various reasons.
Thanks, that would be great!
Thank you for another great episode. It would be extremely awesome if you/ Geek & Sundry ran a
“Design the Ultimate Table Top Trophy” fan contest before you made the second season. Thanks to you and Table Top, my family and I had a great time playing Dixit on Christmas eve.
P.S. Word Press Sabre is a dick
Long time listener, first time caller.
Great to see TableTop back, Wil! It has really brought me back to gaming, after a long-dormant dalliance with RPGs in high school (some 17 years ago!). I even cart around a copy of Dixit and The Resistance to social events, just in case I get a chance to break it out and recruit some new gamers.. Had some success on Sunday!
Do you know when it’s likely that a second season will be confirmed?
New episode of TableTop is out! Chez Geek.
