50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

apparently, retrowave is a thing, and it’s pretty awesome

  • Music

I came across this album on Reddit yesterday, and it’s magnificent. Atlas, from FM-84, is the lush, synth-heavy soundtrack to every 1980s movie where a lone cop takes down the cocaine kingpin who murdered his family. Or maybe it’s that summer at the shore where you stay out all night, fall in love, and never see her again because that’s how it works when you’re 15. Whatever it means to you, I think you’ll love this, especially if you’re Gen X.

I feel as though I need to train a rag-tag group of teenagers on how to steal an Air Force fighter to save my father stuck in a foreign prison while there is a montage of a lone cop who is breaking all the rules to take down a drug kingpin who wears dark suits and sweats too much who also has a daughter that has fallen in love with the son of her father’s rival and they need to run away to their beach house and pretend that a dead relative is actually alive to fool the local authorities.

    I am very happy.

Any recommendations for stuff that might be suitable to play during a game of “shadowrun” ? Some reto 80’s stuff might just be the thing to add some ambiance,

You should try out The Midnight. https://themidnight.bandcamp.com/album/endless-summer

There’s also a version of the album without vocals

Wow, thanks for the tip. This genre is great fun. For those in the San Francisco bay area, FM-84 and the Midnight are playing the DNA Lounge on July 14th. And for those not local, DNA Lounge still webcasts all their shows!
