i’m okay
After a tremendously stressful week — which is strange to say, because I really was having a fantastic time doing the work I was doing — I had a couple of days completely away from everything, with just my wife and our friends, who we don’t see nearly enough.
It totally did not suck, and it’s a reminder that I need to take the occasional Mental Health Days For Wil, slow down a little bit, and actually enjoy the things I get to do because of the work that I get to do. I should remember that, because I tend to forget it, like, all the time.
Ah…flowers
Glad to hear you’re feeling better.
Good job, sir! It is good that you take such time. We all love the products of your works and would hate to see you burn out on them.
So very true Wil. Enjoy :-)))
We should all remember to take some time out every now & then to just “be” rather than “doing” all of the time. Doubly so if you have the kind of brain that like to intermittently cheat on you. Glad to hear that you spent some time just “being” for a change.
You are a human being, which is more important than a human doing. Be well Wil.
Holy shit. That is the smartest thing I’ve heard this month.
Glad you’re happier, Wil!
Glad to hear it, Wil! Your case is a perfect illustration of why God instituted the weekly Sabbath! Mind you, I’m not trying to force my beliefs on you or anybody else–just saying, as they say! Take care!
I find that the great & exciting events can be just as exhausting as the difficult stuff. We all need to remember to take a break sometimes. Glad you’re feeling better for it!!
I think MHD’s are entirely necessary to replenish the energy that daily stress can rob. Whatever nurtures our souls and soothes our minds and hearts should be a priority in our busy lives. Peace, Wil.
That’s a good remibder Wil. Mental health Days are so very important. Beautiful picture you posted too _
I was wondering about u ..i am so glad you had a peaceful fun time .. mine was harried and busy lol 🙂 work next week galore lol 🙂
Those things are sometimes hard to remember when we work for ourselves. If you have a so-called normal job, you get a weekend as a reminder to play a litte (though far too few people remember the concept of a day of rest). Free-lancers and creatives may need the occasional reminder.
That’s not up around Solvang, is it? Beautiful country; wish I was still on the West Coast to enjoy it.
I break it down even further, sometimes—I have “Mental Health Moments”—where I just disconnect from everything and take a walk around the block, or make a trip to get a treat (usually not a healthy one). The most difficult part for me has been to unlearn the guilt that I feel for taking care of myself!
Glad to hear your feeling refreshed. We all need some time away from the noise. After all, we aren’t Borg.
Oh, absolutely. That was actually the hardest thing for me to get into my head when I went back into Counselling recently – that stopping from time to time was essential. Looks like you had a lovely place to unwind in.
Been there done that too! Glad you had a good time.
I thought of you this weekend when reading a piece in saturday’s Wall Street Journal: “The Perils of Befriending an Octopus”.
Bloom County – Dandelion Break!!
Love that pic. Thanks for sharing that.
For real and for true! Heading to Belize with my wife of twenty-plenty years, for a week of self-prescribed mental health days.
Always enjoy the little things…..
Sometimes when I am stressed out I will go out here on the balcony and take what Lt. Chekov would refer to as a Wil Vacation.
