First up, this is happening:
We also have a new episode of Tabletop out today, and it’s one of my favorites of the season.
And after waiting almost a year to be able to talk about it, Nintendo of America has announced that I play the voice of Abraham Lincoln in their insanely awesome 3DS title, Code Name STEAM.
.@wilw spotting! Wil Wheaton lends his talents to #CodeNameSTEAM for #3DS as the voice of the great Abe Lincoln. pic.twitter.com/hpFVuPofVj

I am extremely proud of this game, and I can’t wait to play it. It’s got a great balance of humor and strategy, and there may be some awesomely weird stuff in it, too … you can confirm it for yourself with the trailer:
Oh that is so cool, all of it! Great news all around Mr. Wheaton!
Yay, you’re back on BBT! So excited.
Damn, might have to buy a 3ds finally. You make a fine president sir.
congratulations wil, this all sounds wonderful for you… 🙂
I’m pretty sure a steam game not on Steam goes against the constitution.
Well that’s appropriate since you once played his son. You really do make me smile when you share how much joy your work brings you. I have been SO overwhelmed with my own work lately that these little joyful moments really do help. Thank you for sharing you!
Congrats Wil
Congratulations on your voice over work . it is nice to see smiles on your face
Awesome news mate!
You must look at your life these days with amazement. TBBT, Tabletop, and Nintendo? It hasn’t been that long since life was more of a challenge. Kudos to you!
So many Awesome things, that you worked super hard to do! Congrats!! You deserve it! Have a 14 seconds to pat yourself on the back.. Get back to work, I need to see/hear you in more things!
Ah, nice! Someone mentioned this in their talk at GDC today, but it’s nice to hear directly from the source.
For a second, given the blurriness of the photo, I thought your character name on BBT had an exclamation point at the end. I think that would be awesome. Wil Wheaton (boy, Autocorrect really wants to put a second l on your name) playing “Wil Wheaton!”.
Hey Wil – Looks cool….but….I clicked the link to the Nintendo tweet, AND HOLY JEBUS!!!, there is a lot of hate going on in the comments section. I’ve never seen anything you wrote or said that was outside of standing up for the basic human right not to be threatened with horrible acts in real life or online. What am I missing? Why so much hate going on there?
It’s a tiny group of Gamer Gaters and their sockpuppets, repeating the things they’ve made up and tried to make stick for months.
It’s internet drama. That and two bucks will buy you a McDonald’s cheeseburger.
Gene,
Haters project what’s inside of them – it has very little to do with the target of the hate, and hence very little to do with Wil – so don’t sweat it too much. There are worse fates than doing what you love, making good coin, and earning the wrath of idiots in the process. Many wonderful people have earned the wrath of idiots. One might say it’s among the crowning achievements of a life lived well 😉
But enough on that –
Wahoooo! More BBT!!
Congrats
I don’t get it. So much anger, what a waste of energy. This is why I can’t even play online games anymore. (Not because I’m 48 years old – shut up.) The constant stream of bile is depressing, even on years old PS3 racing games my son plays. I make him turn the other players audio off otherwise it’s a nonstop “I’m gonna kill slash rape you if I don’t win”. I used to think it was just kids being annonomously evil, but it seems some of them grew up and didn’t bother outgrowing it.
Can’t wait to see you on BBT again. The reveal with Penny and the orangutan is on my list of top three funniest moments in TV ever. No pressure on you to top it, of course. winks
That is nothing but fantastic news. I saw that game at PAX south and it looked like a ton of fun, and now that I own a 3ds I may have to pick it up. Curious to hear your voice as abe lincoln, I guess the beard is now “method acting.”
“Target the hat, Mr. Sulu.”

I can’t sit to play games, but I watch just to smile and watch people having fun, and I know what my grandson the champ who does play, is talking about.
OK, first: how cool is it that I get to tell my kids that Wil Wheaton will be on the Big Bang Theory again and that he’s going to have a extra-long beard when he does. They watch the show, but don’t read the blog, so I get to be Nostradamus in my house for a while. Very cool…
Second: I would imagine playing Nintendo’s game is a whole different experience when the object becomes “make Abraham Lincoln talk.” Have fun playing, Wil…
Congrats, Wil. Looks like fun!
Thought I’d share this: My young son was becoming addicted to his phone and computer games (to the detriment of everything else), so after discovering Tabletop I got the idea that we should play more board games as a family – and we did and it’s been awesome.
Anyway, tonight we played Say Anything and my son asked the question: “In my opinion, my favorite leisure activity is…” The answers people wrote were: “video games,” “computer,” “iTouch,” “3DS” a couple other things and “tabletop board games.”
He picked “tabletop board games.”
Too cool – would probably never have happened without the show!
I had that game pre-ordered for months (even without knowing that you did a voice for the game) and i’ve been really liking it. It’s a crazy story/ good gameplay plus Wil Wheaton! I mean what else could you ask for!?!
DAMN, Son! That’s one mighty fine T-Shirt you’re sporting in that Epic Spell Wars episode. I don’t know what it is about that T-shirt, but I really dig it. Know where I can get me one?
