Lots to say, but I just can’t right now. I’ll try again next week.

i turned myself to face me – from star trek: the cruise vii
I use my phone to record all of my talks and readings, and then I put them with all my glasses and my shoes, so I have them.
star trek the cruise vii was wonderful
We disembarked from Star Trek: The Cruise Thursday morning at 715 in Orlando, waited in the airport for seven hours, and got home to Los Angeles just before midnight, which […]
wild child
I looked at it, curiously. Why do I still have this?
this is correlation, not causation
Just a couple of days ago, I told Anne that though I am always a little sad to wrap a season of Ready Room, because I genuinely love my job that much, I was glad to have the time and energy to do stuff together. It's always so weird how we can live together, sleep in the same bed, see each other every single day, and still miss each other because we're just so damn busy, and going in opposite directions most of the time. I was so happy that she had the idea to go out together, which is something we just haven't done in a long time.
If this is really about the election, you need to ask yourself some questions. What was it you missed that the winning side saw? Because either most of the country is insane or there is something you did not consider. It could be most of the country is insane but if that is the case, there isn’t much to do but make the best of it. There is no point feeling down about it.
Best case scenario, you missed something and the system works preventing your mistake.
Worst case scenario, the world has gone crazy and their is a lot of work to do. Feeling despair about it doesn’t help. Snap out of it and do the best you can.
Wow. What a helpful comment.
Also “What was it you missed that the winning side saw… it could be that most of the country is insane….” ignores the fact that MOST of the country actually voted for the person that lost. I don’t know if Wil’s disquiet is based on the election or not, although I think it’s fair to suspect that it is. Regardless, telling someone to “snap out of it” is generally unhelpful based on my observation and experience, particularly when that outlook on things is based on a factually inaccurate set of presumptions.
Unfortunately “MOST” means only 47.28% of the ~55% of those capable of casting a vote … The fact that 45% of those eligible to vote couldn’t be bothered to go and vote is much more troubling and sad than the election results.
Mike, you hit the nail on the head. It is the 45% who didn’t vote that let down the country, not those who voted for the now President-elect.
The one thing I have learnt over Wil over the years is when I am feeling down I get some of my best mates over and just play games. Through Wil I have been able to expand my genre of games from Milton Bradley to a whole raft of exciting game developers. It is by far the one thing in my week I look forward too the most. It allows me to immerse myself in a land/time/story that I couldn’t do any other way.
I hope you are feeling better soon Wil. I miss you.
Honestly, I didn’t see it coming either. Rural America decided to come out and vote. That’s what lost it for us, that and probably a lot of people thought it was in the bag and decided not to bother. My home state of Michigan, which is normally Blue came out Red this time, as did my new state of Wisconsin. In Michigan, it’s Detroit that carries the state. Michigan is decidedly not Blue outside of that area. It’s a loss. We’ve got a crazy man in the White House. We’ve got to live with it for 4 years, and try to get him out after that. The Electoral college is fucked up beyond repair, and this isn’t a Democracy we live in, a Republic. As much as I’d like to believe our votes count, they don’t as much as we’d like to think.
🙁 Not happy about the results either, but will live with it, and then we can all say we told you so when the shit hits the fan.
Wil I’ve never commented on your blog before but I know the cycle that’s going on in your head. You’ve been impacted by the election in a lot of complex ways. The mind can only work through so much. Distractions don’t do much but helping others does. It isn’t altruistic but it is mutually beneficial.
The one thing we all need to do is take the actions we were expecting our president to take. Don’t just take a stand for what you believe in–take actions and make it come true.
Personally, I’m going to start the fight for one-person-one-vote. We no longer need an electoral college. We actually didn’t need it when it came into being–it was one of the compromises to keep the United States united. I also feel we’ve lost our beliefs as a New World–where we are open to newness. Our gov. was an experiment to begin with and we need to treat it as such–and change one of the parameters. We, lastly, need to stop disenfranchising people. Not that getting rid of the electoral college will do that completely, but it’s an important start in giving us all our own voice.
Oh goody, let’s make Rome fall again.
Nero is playing his fiddle…..
Your understanding of the electoral college is lacking. It is the electoral college that gives a voice to voters in 46 of the smaller states and that enable them to have an impact on the election and policy. Without the electoral college, candidates would focus on just getting votes in the 4 largest states: California, Texas, New York and Florida.
What kind of jackass says snap out of it in this situation, particularly to someone who has a history of dealing with depression?
I’m 56. This has happened before many times. Election results are a like a big pendulum. 20% of the US is far right, 20% is far left with 60% in the center. The overall policies swing a bit in one direction and the center corrects that swing 4-8 years later in the other direction. Trumps election will not change the USA too much. There will be a few hundred miles of wall constructed, a few million criminal illegal aliens deported, a conservative judge or two replaced, some drilling or fracking on federal land, less subsidies for renewables and less money spent on climate research which is incredibly biased and redundant. Maybe we end up involved in fewer wars. Aren’t we fighting in 5 places under Obama? In the end, the lives of 99% of the citizens of the USA will be minimally affected or perhaps economically improved. 4-8 years later things may swing back the other way. Its not something to lose your mind over.
“Voice of Reason” my ass. You’re the least helpful person (and least reasonable) I’ve ever seen. Have some fucking compassion. I’m sure the results of this election won’t hurt you at all, but maybe think for ten seconds about people that aren’t safe? It wasn’t a case of “same thing if either side wins.” Have you not noticed the HATE CRIMES ALL OVER THE NEWS? Or are you too white to care?
Also, don’t you fucking dare tell someone with a mental illness to just “get over it.” Fuck off with that noise. Especially since calls to the national suicide prevention hotline were at an all time high the night after the election. So yeah, “Voice of Reason.” Something is really fucking wrong.
You do realize that hate crimes have been on the rise for at least the past three years. But this is The newly elected fault? WE are all being played by the rich controlling the media.
Its funny how we are all so weak now that a half truth pushes our buttons. Of all the people in this blog I am the most qualified, to comment. I have worked with the lame duck President the former Sec of State. That side didn’t have your back ever. At best they threw you a bone every so often.. Neither of you are helping Wil out.. So just take a time out. Wil, I don’t know you, I dont know if its a temporary or persistent issue that you are struggling. I will say tomorrow the sun will rise. You are loved, Family, fans, friends. You have not let any of them down. Sometimes standing still is just as important as moving forward or retreating to safety. Sharon the cat, and others. We are all guilty especially the last twelve months, of flying off the handle and making global statements based upon a few sentences. Sharon is upset and lashes out with profanity and being offensive. While she complains about the other side being offensive. Realize we are all on the same planet.. We are not going any where soon.. Being offensive, demonstrative, and rude doesnt work. So dont fall into that.. Ok Wil so I am going to ask a Star Trek question. I have alluded to in this post. Did the people of Earth actually develop warp technology. To get away from Donald Trump?
@Voice of reason
Sure Trump voters had reason to be angry. They voiced their anger by having a temper tantrum. Working class southern and rust belt folks committed an act of vandalism against our political system and truly screwed themselves while stabbing their country in the back. They elected a man with no military experience, not governing experience, and no interest in public service, who declared bankruptcy six times according to snopes and politifact. Many of them based their votes on the poor information available from the TV and radio. Many of them have no idea exactly how big a lie Trump got away with when he promised to “self-fund” his campaign.
The big lie: Trump made loans to his campaign. In reality it was financed by Sheldon Adelson, superpacs, and the RNC. Trump cheats his customers, suppliers, and called for the deaths of five innocent men in the case of the Central Park Five. Trump voters are about to get a hard lesson in what happens when you shirk your duty to be an informed participant in your democracy and instead throw crap at it.
Most of the voters “Voice of reason”? Really? When the counting is done, Clinton voters are likely to out number feces throwers by two million. “No puppet. No puppet. You’re the puppet.” — donald 2016
How eloquent.
Just a little note – the stages of grief are BS and there really isn’t an acceptance stage. As with the death of a loved one we shouldn’t be asked to accept Trump either. We can’t normalize this man! I don’t think the shock or disbelief will go away but we’ll find a way to peacefully, and aggressively, combat his message of hate. #lovetrumpshate
I feel the same way. I can’t wrap my head around what has happened. I am sad, frustrated, and very angry. How can a racist, sexist, xenophobe be elected to represent me. Simply, he does not. However, to understand why, I did some research. The bloomberg article below kind of explained what he tapped into. Of course, the whole concept that Trump can fix the issues in the article seem ridiculous to me. The only plus side I have been able to come up with is that this will push both parties to rethink how they have failed our country and how to fix it.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-11-10/trump-s-data-team-saw-a-different-america-and-they-were-right?bcomANews=true
Take your time Wil. Many of us are feeling extreme emotional distress. As a black, bisexual woman I am petrified by the prospect of a Trump presidency and Republican controlled Congress. But, I refuse to allow them to do harm to anyone and hope that others have the same committment. For example, hate crimes and harassment have already by perpetrated by some Trump supporters. If you see this happening please intervene. The hatred and bigotry stop, when we make it stop.
I think you all are jumping to conclusions – in fact Wil just saw “Boo! A Madea Halloween”.
Sending you love. We love you for who you are as you are. Always.
Taking the long-term view is the only way to deal with this, along with fighting with love. The backlash will begin in the 2018 mid-terms. We will make this right, after this regression will dawn a new progressive berning populist tsunami!
Yep, once again the popular vote lost. How the hell does that happen? Wait, I know how it happens but it shouldn’t. Scary times but we’ll get through it if we focus on protecting those who will need it and staying strong.
I’m finding solace in small activities. Sweeping my porch was a huge help. I swept the floor, continued on up the wall, pulled the cobwebs down from the corner, then off of the railing, then continued down the stairs, and down the sidewalk for a little way. After a half hour of just using the broom to sweep away every trace of dirt, detritus, and fallen leaf it settled gently into my mind and calmed me for a moment.
After that I chose another small activity. Encrypting my phone, securing my email, and scrubbing my social media of all traces of any speech that might be construed as anti-authoritarian. It took the rest of the evening and I slept fitfully but more soundly than I did the first night.
The following morning, it was another round of small things. Get up when the alarm clock rings instead of laying there in despair. Make the coffee and drink it. Categorize all of your worldly posessions into necessary to exist, and not… and start folding boxes up to store bulky items in a hiding spot. Photograph the things to sell on eBay for the plane ticket out of here. Make sure the passport is up to date.
The small things, taken one at a time are getting me through the day to day. Eventually they will culminate in the small things of buying the ticket, walking down the gate, and sitting in the plane seat to fly the fuck off of this continent forever.
Wil, yet another opinion, because of what seems to be “working” for me right now. I’ve never felt this level of anger before. What seems to help me climb out of the pit is: making carefully-considered but definite finite decisions. In my case it was to cut off any social relationship with anyone known to have voted for Trump in the general. Permanently, unemotionally, and definitively. Both to protect myself and to show them that actions have consequences. Your mileage may differ, but I think it was the “deciding” and “acting” parts that made the difference, regardless of the content of those.
Personally, I think cutting off those ties was a mistake. How is this nation going to heal if all we ever do is be with those who think and act as we do? All that does is continue the “Us” vs “Them” mentality that hate just loves to see continue. Only by staying by each other, through thick and thin, good times and bad, will we be able to let love win over hate. But that’s just my opinion.
Jamie, I appreciate your view. I really do. This was not a decision I took lightly or immediately. And it is a much more narrowly-focused criterion than you seem to think. (How you misinterpreted my words is a subject for another day.) The criterion is not AT ALL about “thinking and acting as [I] do”. The criterion is two very specific acts (and nothing about “thinking”): 1) actually voted for Trump in the general and 2) let it be known they did so. And an additional caveat: purely professional relationships excluded.
I get that you don’t like the idea of any cutting of ties, but please don’t exaggerate what I am actually doing in order to sermonize. Thanks.
Looks like we are both misinterpreting each other words. I wasn’t sermonizing. I was just stating my opinion and (believe it or don’t) hoping that you didn’t take that decision too lightly. With all the emotions running around, it’s sometimes hard to tell.
As for the specific acts: Why would voting for Trump (or Clinton for that matter if you were on the other side of the argument) and saying so be such a bad thing? Another question would be (for me at least) is why did they vote that way in the first place?
In all fairness, does it really matter? What’s done is done. The only thing left is to move forward while learning from what’s behind us (history being the teacher).
As for me not liking the idea of you cutting ties: I didn’t mean that I thought you should never cut ties with people. There are times when you have to. (And from the sound of the response to my reply, you did. And that’s OK.) Like I stated earlier, I (personally) believed that you shouldn’t cut ties without any thought to matter. And thanks for clarifying that you had done this, so on that subject there’s no misunderstanding on my part.
I hope I have cleared up what I was trying to say. If you still have some questions or need a bit more clarification, please don’t hesitate to ask. And again, thank you for your clarification on your remarks.
You lost me at “Why would voting for Trump…be such a bad thing?” I think we’re done here.
“As You Wish.”
Hey Wil, sorry you are having such a time. I hope that soon you will feel even and back to your happy self. I just wanted to let you know that you are the one who directed me to this site of yours, you told me about it on Facebook the other day. I commented on your post about how you rarely check FB and read comments. But you read mine and responded! So that was cool. If you are able to remember me, my name on FB is very odd, so you just might. It was Gertrude Heathcliff Brinkman. Do you remember me? Not sure that you might respond, but i also wanted to say thank you for letting me know about this site. Seems pretty awesome.
As an Aussie, I have to say It has happened, folks. Just need to face it. A very wise person has already pointed out that the sun WILL rise tomorrow, regardless.
I honestly don’t see The Donald getting away with a lot as Prez, simply because so many of his own party actively hates his guts. Already observed several years of President Obama getting so many of his policies road-blocked in Congress, and that’s despite having his own party (mostly) behind him. Donald doesn’t even (necessarily) have that.
In fact, I lay fair-to-middling odds of impeachment becoming a thing within the first three years, simply because he is what he is.
As for complaining about Trump being elected by a majority of the Electoral College rather than by direct votes, that’s more or less how you guys have been voting in your presidents for a long while now. Might want to think on that some.
Not that I believe Hilary Clinton was a great alternative, because I absolutely don’t. But that’s a rant for another time.
Sadly, the Republicans are “falling in love with Trump all over again”, as one newspaper headline put it. They will coddle and protect him. They see him as a useful idiot they can manage… not unlike George W Bush, except with shinier distractions. As long as they get the legislation and supreme court nominees they want, they will prop him up in front of as many trubelievers as they can find to cheer him on.
The Republican party has a long history of manipulating useful idiots at will and rubbing shoulders with deplorable people to get what they want.
When life hands you distopia, make distopia-aide. 😎
I’ll never understand all of the drama, worry, and hand wringing over things that may or may not happen. The president doesn’t wield ultimate power and will have to convince a majority in both the house and senate to get anything done. Any truly bad idea will not make it past these politicians who all, ultimately, want to be re-elected.
It’s not about what “may or may not happen.” It’s about the fact that sexism, racism, ignorance, and hate won. That nearly half of people in this country said that those are their family values. That a candidate endorsed by the KKK won. That the electoral college is a farce. That a man who flailed about on video mocking a disabled person is now president-elect. It’s embarrassing, and it hurts so much for those of us who thought we’d made progress in the past fifty years to have it thrown into our faces that we didn’t. That those of us who are female, or brown, or otherwise not in the majority, don’t matter – except perhaps as objects of derision. That’s what it’s about, and we are allowed to be upset by this.
Two things:
The majority in the house and senate actually belong to the same party which the president represents.
Several Trump supporters are actively attacking women, LGTQ folk, Muslim folk, black folk, Asian folk, Latinx folk, [insert marginzalized person here] folk already “because we won”, and other Trump supporters aren’t really doing anything to call them on their shit.
The president doesn’t wield ultimate power, but the Congress and the citizenry are giving him more support than you think.
You’re not alone, Wil. That’s all I’ve got. It’s really bad right now, and it’s OK to be angry and sad about that. I offer no comfort, because there is none to be had, and because comfort isn’t what I want right now. Because anger is what I want right now. Because if we aren’t angry about this, there’s a problem. Love to you and yours, Wil. All love, no hate. One day at a time.
Wil, I’ve never posted before but have long appreciated your work (we’re about the same age) and your voice here on this blog. We are right to be afraid. History has shown that outsiders of all kinds suffer tremendously under authoritarian leaders. That includes individuals belonging to racial and religious minority groups, those identifying as LBGTQ, and also the artists and writers (that’s you!) and scientists (that’s me!), intellectuals, and thinkers of all types. I hope that our ability to connect and communicate and use technology to share information can be an advantage this time around. As a connecter, you may have work to do. All of us have work to do. “I wish it need not have happened in my time…. and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” Lots of love and light to you and your family.
Well, I must ask. Why are you upset? The majority of Americans approve of a temporary ban on Muslims. It wasn’t until Trump mouthed off about Mexicans that everyone got upset. So, I have to ask, How many Muslim friends do you have? have you sat and chatted with any Muslims? Have you read the Koran in order to learn what Islam is all about? Because Trump made it clear from the beginning that he was all about cracking down on Muslims. Mexicans were an afterthought. The recent riots in Portland Oregon are very hypocritical in light of this article http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/04/08/portland-is-the-most-livable-city-in-america-except-if-youre-muslim/
The hysteria is hitting a fever pitch. The fake “hate crimes” are getting out of hand. Look, there are racist scum out there. I’m sure some are “emboldened” because they think “their guy” won. So I’m prepared to believe some of these stories are true. So I’ll give that 1/20 based on current data. Some are actually being proved fake, very few proved true.
If I had to guess, I’d say 5% real hate, 15% ‘trolls’ basically people reveling in being assholes. 80% people just making shit up for attention or to “start the conversation.
“If I had to guess ….” Uh huh. I’m sure the Khan family is comforted by your “guess” that there is nothing to the tide of racism and bigotry that rises with the orange (tanning bed orange) moon.
Jeezum crow man. There has never been a more explicit agenda of racism in my lifetime. Do you even know what kind of Breitbart scum donald is appointing?
This really awesome dude from the internet who I look up to taught me that depression is a terrible thing, but it lies and things will get better. Even just hearing the sound of his voice (sometimes he talks about burritos) or reading the cool things he writes can help me. I personally think he’s awesome and is part of why, even though the world is kinda a shitstorm at the moment, I can keep going.
Another positive perspective here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no pagan polyanna, I’m more pessimistic now than I was in late 2000 when dubya ….yadda yadda. Just saying, things are very rarely 100% bad at any given turning point in history. So, http://thehumanist.com/commentary/dont-despair-humanist-values-prevailed-several-state-ballot-initiatives
I keep having this conversation in my mind.
Me: A game show host was elected to be our next President.
Moron: It wasn’t a game show, it was a reality show.
Me: Who gives a fuck! It’s inane drivel you (random assertions of post-nasal drip followed a by suggestion of
a diaper filled with yesterday’s poo). You actually voted for this unqualified moron.
Moron:Emails!
My workplace has certain restrictions against strangling other employees.
But, but, but …
BENGHAZ-EEE-MAILZ!!!
They had hearings! Kenneth Star, oops I mean Trey Gowdy, had HEARINGZ!
Wil, buddy, I know you’ve been making some positive changes to your life this year, but come on over, I’ve got some bottles with your name on them, literally. https://goo.gl/photos/Toiz4MkjEAdD5E6t5 https://goo.gl/photos/Toiz4MkjEAdD5E6t5
The world has not ended, at least not yet, we shall see… it’s all my fault, I voted for him. I am all for a woman being president, just not THAT woman. She is a criminal and caused the death of an ambassador. I think Trump did his best to get her elected, did u see his face when he won? He looked like a deer in the headlights. He wanted her to win, and took out her competition and did everything he could to make her win but no one trusts her. I’m laughing at how his plan backfired!
There there.
Wil, You probably don’t know me at all, and if I ran into you on accident I would probably just squeak and run away, but if you need me I am here. Even if its just someone to bounce a rant off of or play a game or throw rocks at trees or whatever. I suspect alot of us would be cool with it, and not because oh cool a famous guy – but because I think of you as a friend and if you need something – anyhow. I am here for you buddy.
And here we have yet another celeb who is just beside himself over the election results. Question: did he do all that he could do for his candidate? Did he pound the pavement? Did he try to convince the undecided? Probably not.
In any event, I’m sure facts from news stories posted on websites like MSN.com wouldn’t mean a thing to him. But here’s one: HC got the majority of her votes from cities & urban centers and almost none from the rest of the state, which she basically blew off anyways. That is how you get the popular but lose the electoral.
And no, I didn’t vote for either major candidate. When 3rd party instead.
I love you, Wil Wheaton, most sincerely. I am a random person out here in the universe, much older than you, and I knew of you through Star Trek of course. But what you are is so much beyond that. Through your writing here, you have become to me a human being that I admire and support for your openness, your willingness to bare yourself, and your kindness and compassion. I offer no words for the picture of your grief, except to say that it breaks my heart to see you and so many others feeling so broken. I heard a man speak recently (Bryan Stevenson https://eji.org/) and he said there is great power in brokenness. Tragedy brings people together in a way that nothing else does. This is a dark time. Evil is rising and has been for a long time. But good and light and love will triumph, so long as decent human beings do not let the bullies win. Small acts, gentle small people, quiet voices, and small movements all have a way of growing stronger and mightier when they combine over time. Do not let your despair overcome you. Look for the helping hands, the small but brave hearts, the gentle people. We are here. And we love you.
Your picture says it all.
I understand, Wil.
Wil,
Take your time, we understand and you are not alone.
We will be waiting here for you.
Me too, man. Be strong.
WIL WHEATON FOR PRESIDENT 2020
Oh geez…… your face looks like my face did…… (only you are much younger, a male, and a great deal more handsome……..) and I really do understand. I felt physically ill. I think people were so hellbent to get a Republican in office, and against Hillary, they would have voted for Donald Duck. Dude, I’m so sorry that you are hurting. I don’t have any answers yet and I would be very presumptuous to suggest what you should do. Hopefully solutions will present themselves in the near future. Until then – warm and comforting hugs coming your way…….
Come on people. Pull yourselves together. The process for electing our president – worked! It may not have yielded the result everyone thought – but the system worked the way it was designed. Before you all got bananas – about popular vote and yada yada yada – not really the first time this has happened, has it? I don’t remember all the Democrats rioting when Bush won over Gore while Gore maintained a margin of popular vote. But I’m sure you DO remember that Gore was a sore loser and complained for days – and even went to court. That was settled December 12th, 2000 by the Supreme Court and set the precedence for this type of action – that popular vote does not count for squat in the electoral college. Complain as you like about the electoral process – I certainly have issues with it – California @ 55 and Texas @ 38 votes is sheer madness. If California and Texas support one candidate – that wipes out every other state in the entire western half of the US. Does that sound right?
What I certainly find ironic – is all the Love trumps Hate rhetoric – while there are Democrats who are rioting in the streets. That’s sure sounds like Love is winning out, doesn’t it?
Does the President REALLY impact your day to day life? I mean – really make a difference? Sure – there are some policies that are very important to both Democrats and Republicans. Why not take all that energy – and focus on your locale. If you are interested in the political landscape, then run against some of the incumbents in your local jurisdiction who have run unopposed for 20 years. Show up to your town hall meetings, city council meetings, public review sessions. Vote for mayors who will make a difference in your burg. Put planners in place that don’t just look to triple the density of the neighborhood going in next to you. Get a sherrif that you can trust. If Politics are not your thing – then give your time. Volunteer at a food bank, homeless shelter, geez – even at your local animal shelter. There are SOOO many ways you can devote your time to make things really better – if not just for you – then for those you can influence.
Following blindly what the media has to say about ANY candidate is nonsense. No offense meant – but to roll out the Celebrities – is just a dog and pony act with no substance. Are you REALLY going to vote for someone because Madonna, or Bono, or Katy Perry say so is a good idea? Really?
Come on – let’s get over this – and get back to work. There are plenty of positive things to do in this world.
Dramatic much?
wtf does that mean? Is it like me asking you “Douchbag a lot?” “Dick-move troll often?”
That’s exactly what it’s like! Winner winner chicken dinner!!!
Miss you, WW! Come back. We need your snark.
53% of white women voted for Trump
I think this fact is why I am so dejected. I feel complicit. No, I personally did not vote for Trump but 53% of people like me did. I feel naive and stupid for not foreseeing this outcome. I did not think that 53% of people like me could possibly vote for someone so completely unfit and unqualified to be the president of our country. I feel like I should have known and should have done more.
At least you did something Wil. You took time away from your career and livelihood and traveled extensively and campaigned personally for Hillary Clinton. You worked hard and gave personally of yourself and your energies. You did something. The only thing I did was vote.
It may be too late, but I will do something now. I don’t know what yet. I am not a politically minded person, but I know I have to do something now. I have to figure out what that something is.
I am so sad and mad at myself and everyone else. I truly don’t understand how this happened and I do NOT agree that it is something that we should just get over and get on with our lives. I am nearly your age and didn’t read “1984” until I was in my mid 30’s and holy fucking shit! If we “get over this and get on with our lives” that is where we are headed. If there was any way I could expose the American populous to “1984” I would. It’s an important view of a potential future that is even more possible after electing Trump as our president. I am sick at heart and sick to my stomach. I don’t know what to do yet, but we have to do something.
Bless you Wil, for helping during the election. I’m sorry I didn’t help you. I’ll do my part now.
but the music remains:
http://www.npr.org/2016/10/13/497307416/first-listen-john-k-samson-winter-wheat
I keep telling myself he will only be president for four years (or less). The country has survived hundreds of years and will survive him. But what really scares me is the fact he can nominate a conservative judge for the Supreme Court, which will have consequences long after Trump is out of office.
…and we’re back. Thank you for fixing this.
Thinking of you. Thought you might enjoy this from someone who can relate. My friend Mike is a great musician.
